OCI frustration!

Post by srkpriv »

Travisa Application Date: 10-AUG-2012
Date Of Acknowledgment 23-AUG-2012

Application Status:
Registration Status at Mission: UnderProcess
Documents Printing Status
On
Dispatched From MOIA (OCI ):
On NOT DISPATCHED
Documents Received at WASHINGTON: NOT YET

"Ordinarily, OCI Registration Certificate and Visa are available for delivery within 30 days from the date of acknowledgment. If there are any objections regarding Photographs/Signature/Thumb impression etc,the process may get delayed and the same will be communicated to applicant by the concerned Mission/ Office via OCI web site/ SMS/ Email/ Phone etc."

Could someone tell me I should wait a little longer and whether does this mean my photo was not scanned or my case was not even opened / processed since acknowledgement? No movement since 08/23. By tomorrow it will 25 days since acknowledgement.

Is this normal?. Could some one please advice what can I do?

Thanks.

Going thru this link http://www.immihelp.com/tracker/india-trackers/oci-tracker.do
looks like NY is the fastest process area, SF is second, according to Trivisa 60 days is the number of days to process OCI, you just have to contact Trivisa, a month is gone. Sounds like it is still at DC indian mission. Not common, call trivisa. It is frustrating consider the US side is
not forwarding your papers to New Delhi.
you should get some kind of status example as below

Date/Time Action
08/25/20xx 3:52pm CST Service order form completed online
08/29/20xx 3:09pm CST OCI application arrived in the mail at Travisa Outsourcing. Please allow Travisa Outsourcing up to 7 business days before the application status changes. Note that your application will undergo several steps before the status is updated.
08/29/20xx 3:13pm CST Order form and supporting documents received, payment processed
08/30/20xx 11:03am CST Documents prepared to go to Embassy.
08/31/20xx 9:11am CST Documents dispatched from Travisa Outsourcing Office to Consulate
08/31/20xx 9:41am CST Documents received by Consulate
09/06/20xx 2:00pm CST Pending approval of the Government of India

Thanks so much for your response. My travisa says this. Please see the given below.

I called travisa and they said it takes 45 to 60 business days. Does this mean my case is with MHA in India or still in consulate. I thought the acknowledgement date above (my original post) means it was sent to the Indian mission in India. Are there other ways to follow up? other than travisa? Normally, I wont even bother, but, I am planning R2I and it has been a slow process and uncertainty makes it difficult.

Please let me know.
Thanks.

25 days is nothing compared to the 12yr wait to get USC right?

your papers are in New Delhi, anyways you have to wait for another month or so, there are different process date (speed wise) if you live in SF or NY looks faster processing time. What else can you do ? you have to return to india you have to, these are just babu doing work taking their own sweet time, if you did not meet the criteria, the US side (embassy or consulate) would not have forward to GOI,
anyways I am certain if you apply for PIO every thing is done faster state side, a bit of hassle with pio reporting to fro and 15 years life span on PIO. You can still plan on returning to India though. You are born indian, looks like an indian, go back to your own country, who else is going to stop you.:)

My main motivation was to find out I am not stuck somewhere in the void or something. I am also surprised different processing for different CGIs when the process is in Delhi. Based on your answer it looks like this is normal time frame for my consulate. I checked with travisa regarding application of PIO while OCI is in progress and they said I cant do that. If it is a wait of few more weeks let me wait for that duration and see what happens. Hopefully, things will move and will be fine. Again, thank you so much for your response.

it is going to be fine, they need the fees to keep them going, it is a matter of time, as the saying goes ' at the end everything will be alright in india, if it is not alright, then it is not the end yet'.:))

Even the slowest processed has something called 'photo scanned date' in trackers (OCI trackers). Within a few days after the acknowledgement. I don't see that in mine. How or where would I find that information. What is the consequence of that not showing in mine?.

Thanks a lot.

just guessing photo scanned date means the Indian consulate of embassy satisfies with the photo you submitted, the approval comes from new delhi means a lot. Once those babus in Delhi says yes means everything is clear.

Hi, do you know how I can find my photo scanned date?. I don't see it in my status. As I mentioned all the statues I have seen so far in the tracker seems to have the photo scanned date regardless and usually immediate after acknowledgement. Not having this photo scanned date what is the consequence?

Please let me know.
Thanks a lot.
