I just realized that , the photos I submitted has a white background (I used similar photos as my US passport).

I checked the status, my OCI was granted on the 23rd.

Actually, only Chicago consulate wants it to be colored. All other consulates want it white.

You seem to be in Chicago jurisdiction.. Even though Chicago wants it colored, if you submit a white background photo in Chicago, you will get our OCI with no problem.

I have seen so many of my friends getting OCI with a white background photo in Chicago.. So, you are not the only one in that boat.

OCI photo question

My card has not been printed yet and its been more than 4 business days since my OCI was granted, according to they consulate website, if your card doesn't get printed in 4 days after granting of the OCI, it means that the OCI printer system rejected the photos, however I've no way of finding it out. I've a drop dead date to travel to india on Dec 17th. An entry visa wont work, because I'll be starting my new job in India.

What are my options, should I apply for a PIO , does anybody know the ETA on PIO processing at the chicago consulate ?

Suggestions and pointers are much appreciated.

Kaiser,
to the best of my knowledge the PIO card processing takes shorter time than OCI since the pio is done at the consulate whereas the oci is done at delhi. I know you have apply for OCI would it make sense to get PIO depends on how fast you want to enter india. It is definitely a lot of anxiety dealing with the red tape.
I do not understand what you mean by " card not printed yet" ? It is a waiting game of first 3 months of oci, without any feedback from anywhere.

I've been tracking some applicants on immihelp, quite a few of them have their status updated as "Card Printed" within 4 days of granting the application. On top of that the OCI application system is having technical issues and chicago is not accepting any new applications, this worries me because Ican't even resubmit my photos, if this system is down.
