Hi All
I am planning to R2I early 2013.
1. What changes in terms of employment options when we move back with an OCI? DO yo have to declare it to the company before you join?
I hold Australian Citizenship and OCI.
2. I understand that with OCI we do not have voting rights and also cant buy agricultural land and cant work in some defense and government jobs. But do MNCs look at this?
3. What happens with Tax? Are we ocnsidered as residents of India for tax purpose? Or is there a higher slab having an OCI?
Thanks in Advance

OCI allows you (an Indian Citizen by Birth) to work just like any other Indian Citizen/National, there is no difference, before you join the company you will have to declare (even if you don't they will come to know from your Passport :)) that you hold OCI.

Above question should answer this question, MNC or Local company it does not matter.

You will be taxed just like any other Indian citizen/resident, however you also may have to declare your income and file for income tax in Australia (I don't know how it work), I am US returned and I have been filing my US returns based on my Indian Income every year
Thanks in Advance

Thank you back2desh.. those are helpful.
I also see you have returned to blr. I will be returning to blr too..
As you can imagine I have endless questions/doubts/anxiety and would like to share some on this forum...
I am basically a Mech engineer and have completed my MS here in Aus and now working from past 4yrs. I have total about 5.5yrs of experience. I have started applying for jobs through internal ref from friends and naukri/monster etc. I dont get much response at all. I try to follow-up email/phone calls and all i get is no answer/reply to emails or we will get back to you sort of answers. Thru internal ref I had a telephonic interview in Sept mid and until date there is no closure or updates from the interview although during the interview I was told I will be contacted in a couple of weeks to arrange next round.
Do you think its best to apply thru internal ref? from Aus? or after actually moving back?
What was your exp of finding a job?

References are your best bet. Most of the people says the same with Naukri / Monster etc being non-responsive. I do however get responses (depending on the expectation) one every 2 months or something. I have been applying through Naukri to begin with but nothing in hand as you say. Through a friend I spoke to one firm and they are interested and through direct application I have applied to a service firm and they are interviewing me. But, so far, I am quite unable to get an offer in hand. Hoping to get one soon. Let us see.
Use your friends references to the most. That helps is what I understand. Also, please the job market in India is not good is what I understand now. That could be another reason. keep the option of going to India and finding a job as last resort (Dont know your motivation for R2I). May be around Jan time frame the job market may perk up or something.
