After reading a bit, I decided to go with Automatic car during the first year of my R2I. I saw Hyundai I 10, its touching 6lakhs. For few more lakhs, I get Toyota Innova. My purpose is just to go for groceries, bank, go to relatives houses etc. For more distance, we will call the driver anyway (we have an Esteem). So I thought of buying a USED Automatic Car is a good option. I searched in the web, called few numbers locally in Hyderabad, but no use. I got a feeling that Automatic is very rare in Second hand market? Is this true?

Or is spending 6lakhs worth on a small car?

Only other option would be, buying a two wheeler which I dont prefer right now due to crazy traffic. I have to, in case I dont get the Used automatic car.

Please let me know how can I proceed further in this process.

I am not particular about the company. I need a small, automatic car. If anybody wants to sell their automatic car, please let me know.

I gathered some info so far on SMALL cars under 6lakhs.

In Maruti, only Wagon R has automatic option and its almost same price as Hyundai I 10. So no point in buying from Maruti, as you have to wait for at least for two months to get an automatic car. I liked the looks of Swift a lot, but automatic option is not available.

Meanwhile I have been looking for the ads for a second hand automatic car. They are very few, at least in Hyderabad. So far I found one interesting car, but I did not get any response from them.

I am still keeping my options open, but leaning towards buying new Santro I 10.

I was about to suggest the same.
Infact one of the active members in this forum (prasadee) is active there too and maybe many others.It is an extremely informative and well run forum and there is loads of helpful info for any query related to Indian automobiles.

Used automatic cars may be difficult to find as automatic are not popular in India. Mostly US returned NRI buy them. You can try here:

I actually changed my mind and bought a gear car-Ritz zxi. It is worth spending 6lakhs on a small car, as it has alloy wheels, airbags and abs brakes. When it comes to Automatic, it costs 6lakhs without any of these features.

This car handles excellent on Indian roads, especially in rainy days, where you dont know all the pot holes are. I really liked how it handles on speed brakers, pot holes, rain puddles. It stays firm and grounded. It has high ground clearance, because of which, I just drive through the rain rivers on the road. I 10 is no comparison or comes close to this car.
