Sukam 800 with Exide InvaTube IT500 150Ah battery(42 months replacement warranty) is a good combination. I got a local EPS Galaxy Inverter + Amaron PowerEdge 120 Ah battery around 18 months (1 year warranty) ago. The battery gave up in just 18 months and this time I did some research and got this IT500 battery for 12.5K.

I got Sukam 2.4 Kv (sorry if this value is incorrect, basically the max load for residential unit & their pure sine wave one) with Sukam maintanence free battery. Wired the home to make sure inverter goes only to desired points and wont need manual switching off (This was important to me). I think it is doing a good job. Seller said 3 yrs is the life of battery, but realistically only 2 1/2 yrs. It has crossed 2 yrs I think.
I am guessing anyway, all of these are same. Any brand name will do.

The value is correct. It is the unit of measure that should read KVA.

HI all,
Thanks for your reply.
Srinpo, how long does it take to wire the home and what is the cost to setup?
Where did you buy this? Did the shop also provide the service to setup the inverter in homes? Please let me know,..

Thanks!

I was afraid if I give the actual name of the dealer, Admin may call it as ad. But frankly I think all are same. I got mine done from a shop in MG road in secanderaabd. The guy who I talked to seem knowledgable, and was talking fluent English. I went with the small ad in one of the papers. I think all of them are the same. This is pretty much a commodity product, so I dont worry about which place I buy.
Wiring took one entire day for my house, and in fact later I needed another follow up day, because some things werent right. (day starts from say 11:00 am, and went late till 9:00 pm). But you can take this as worse case, It depends on how big the house and more importantly how it is already wired. If all wires going inside the house are loose and small distance, then even I can wire them. Also depends on how you want it to look. For eg. if you dont mind, wires outside (may be put the white plastic frame around like old houses), then it gets easier.
Or if in the simplest case, if you just want to connect everything to the main, and you will take care of switching all applainces off by yourself when power goes off, then it is simple matter of connecting 2 points (do it yourself, if you want to).
I wanted in my case to be sure that it is fully automatic, and no grope in the dark when power goes off. If there is more load than what the inverter can take, it will automatically shut off. In that case you need to keep switching off the applicances. But I didnt want this. So in my home only those points we want power is connected to inverter. And to optimize the power available, I also tried my best to connect max I can (almost 110% of the capacity of inverter assuming we will never have all the connections at once).
I remebered (but probably forget now, so take it with a pinch of salt) the thumb rule as approx 100W for fan, 40 W for big tube lights, 150 for my CRT TV, and 15 W for those small tubes. Add them and add around 30% and get that KV. Fridge, Heaters, iron etc. should be out of the loop.
Also I insisted on getting maintances free batteries. Otherwise you have to pour distilled water to the battery every 1-2 months, and being lazy we are, we will forget (or get his mainataince contract and he will come & do the same but he will do in his schedule - you should very well know what this means). If you are prompt kind of person, or dont mind the contract guy coming & doing it, doesnt matter. After all the batterys life is 3 yrs (3.5 max)
Things I will advice mainly is getting pure sine wave, brand named ones (sukam, microtek, luminous, whirpool etc.) (non branded is availble and quite often seem to do the same job so it is tempting), and avoid having ac/s, heaters in the circuit.
