OK. Now that I have moved here and have finished my first 6 months here are my thoughts on Bangalore for people who plan to be here.
1. The weather is great.
2. The food choices are awesome. People eat out all the time and there is a great choice of food.
3. The job scene is good and if you try hard enough, you will get the position you want with a little bit of luck.
4. If you live in an apt., which most likely you will, everything from shopping for groceries to Ironing, will happen at your door step.
Now the ugly part:
1. The city is a dump. There is garbage everywhere. Unlike Chennai or Delhi this place is very poorly planned and lacks basic amenities.
2. To travel any where like 6 Km, it takes a minimum of 2 hours.
3. The pollution is very high. The average local is so stupid that they don't even smog check their vehicles and the govt. here does not care.
4. There are plenty of things going on, but you will never go to them unless you live right there. Refer to point 2.
5. The auto guys are criminals.
6. If someone says "you know bangalore is just like US ya" .. take him to a mental asylum first.

I am here for 5 months, and I completely agree with the observations. To add to the negatives -
The cost of real estate and rentals is too high.
School admissions are a big challenge, and the process is too complicated in the age of Internet (esp considering this is IT hub of India).
Apart from auto guys, maids are nuisance.

Looks like there are more negatives than positives so I have to ask the question: Are you regretting going back or do you still think it is a good move despite all the negatives?

I take it that you are not originally from Bangalore. Would your observations be the same had you returned to your home city. While not denying the essence of all the items listed in the cons, they seem to be exaggerated. BTW, it must be a revelation to you that "locals", per your definition are a minority in the city. So, do you consider yourself a local or not?

All right .. Month 7 ..
1. I do not regret the decision to move back. I just need to find a better city than this. The problem is there are plenty of nicer cities where i can't find a job.
2. India is going through a 60's revolution. There is lack of morality here which a lot of the people inthe forum grew up with.
3. The kids in Bangalore are a lot more degenerate than other southern cities for the following reasons:

I dont consider myself a local. I repeat the locals are stupid here. KN is more corrupt than any place i have known and trust me, i am from chennai and that place is corrupt !!
If all of you have a chance to come to bangalore, my advice is this .. DON"T.
The maids are not that good looking either (Just kidding !!)

If the locals are stupid you should be able to work with them to easily get what you want right? Or is it the case that you are [deleted by admin] ?

well i take offense to the part that the locals are stupid. there are stupid people everywhere in the world :)
and FYI if you are living in the newer developments around the IT hub, i doubt if there is even a 10% kannada/bangalore local. but bangalore welcomes whoever comes in whether it is a telugu, hindi, tamil or any other language speaking person.
each place has its own issues. any R2I has issues for that matter. u cant blame one set of people for that.
