Just wanted to add that we are planning to move after 10 years here as well. My son did 11+ too, although not in grammar school he got in a selective school of our choice. But with all the temptation to stick to status quo I am now able to understand that it is no longer about whether 1 more year or not, its whether my children will ever understand the meaning of extended family, community etc or will they live ignorant and alone in this world eventually. I am now sending my family by end of july to NCR (where we bought a few years ago preparing for this) and will work on closing out my remaining aspects...

I moved to Hyd about 5months ago after living in London for 12yrs. I am happy to answer any specific questions you may have. I have nothing to miss in London other than the facilities and weather (i like cold than hot). For medico's and IT chaps, finding employment is not hard at all. But people like me who work's at corporate level, find it difficult to secure a job as these jobs does not go on public, references work well i heard.

The great advantage of being in India is you dont feel lonely and networking (social life) is better due to similarities in culture. I am not currently working, just exploring business opportunities, hope some thing will be Materialised soon.

Moved back to Mumbai from UK a few months back. Both of us used to work in academia in the UK. We don't have kids, so don't know much about local schools etc. If you have any specific questions, I will be happy to answer.

ukr2i - Buddy, which part of Bombay are you from? I'm on the verge of moving back in next few months and would like to get an idea about the job market. Did you apply whilst in UK or was it otherwise?

Jas- My spouse applied for an academic (teaching+research) job from the UK. The application+offer process took about 3-4 months and we took another 6 months to get back. I tried searching for research positions in industry whilst in the UK, but it was really hard to find much information on the web. I work in an interdisciplinary field and the kind of research divisions I was after were mostly based in Bangalore or Hyderabad. Once I got here, I started networking heavily and found a job after 5 months.
