Cost of 20" Container

I asked for Quote on the container from few companies and I have two quotes already and waiting for another one. One Quote I received is crazy.

Shipping from Halifax to New Delhi

Even though shipment is going through Halifax port directly the quote is around 9K (without Insurance) which includes packing of two bedroom furniture and one TV, custom clearance and door delivery in Delhi, rest have already packed and labelled myself with a complete list as suggested by others.

Other quote is a lot less, my friend shipped through them and had no problems. Can people give me some some idea on what they paid for20" Container to Delhi.

May be I should have asked if anyone has shipped to New delhi from Us or Canada how much did you pay for 20' container and who did you ship with.

While the 9K quote seems very high for a 20' container, could it be due to the pick-up location being Halifax?

After you get quotes from a couple of others, feel free to call the company w/ 9K quote and ask what gives.

When I go with another company they will handle the shipping from Halifax to New Delhi, so I need to take care of furniture packing and loading myself and than hire another company for customs and clearance in India and delivery to home than it comes to hardly 5K thats the reason for this question as I was expecting price close to this amount.

Actually anything from Toronto, Montreal also goes through Halifax port so can't understand why the price is so high when the container cost is around 3.5K only from Halifax to Delhi. Maybe not many people ship from here so the their local partner is trying to make some good money.

That makes sense. If you call them and ask why they are so out of range compared to others, they may want to redo their quote. If not, you are getting multiple other quotes anyways, right?
