Request to shipping Members/individuals:

As members we have luxury to hide behind anonymous ids, a company or business would not be able to hide like that. When a member of this forum is using this forum to complain about a business or company, and looking for redress or response from concerned business, pls understand, you should not try to hide your identity and should present all facts of your case, so the concerned company may be able to investigate your case and present their side. It will help your case and also other members to form an opinion based on the facts.

Further I advise members not to resort to personal attacks or use defamatory language. This name calling can be avoided.

I strongly suggest those who like to use the power of this forum to complain, to send the link of your post to the company concerned and inform them about your complaint here and give them a chance to respond here. It is up to the company if they chose not to respond.

If they respond here, it will not only help your case, but help other members to identify good service provider from bad service provider.

Pls dont post your complaints here if you are not able to backup the complaints with facts. Because if the shipping company respond to your complaint, they will bring the facts of the case here and just being emotional wont help you very much.

Request to shipping Companies:
Pls dont create dummy ids and pose as person who availed the moving services to post 'fake' positive experiences.

If you wish, you may contact your customers who used your services and are happy to post referral and you may ask them to share their "real experiences" in this forum in this thread.

Members here are smart and very active and they smell 'scams' quickly. This will have adverse effect on promoting your business in this forum.

I have received the bill of landing and the estimated date of arrival in Mumbai is 4/20. So a total of 9 weeks from pick-up in Denver. Lets see how things go now. Payment has already been made. They ended up charging me about 15% less than was originally quoted which was a pleasant surprise. Hope no hidden charges on the far end of the deal :).
mkngtrbl;259876The boxes were picked up today. Total of 11 boxes @ 4.5Cu ft each. so 49.5 cu ft. Waiting to hear on what it turns into after loaded on pallet. More updates as I get them.

r2i_in_2yrs;259902Thanks for the update.
If you don't mind could you share what kind of items you are shipping? Feel free to ignore if it is personal..

I just saw your post so late in responding....mostly shipped clothes, kitchen utensils and a food processor, books, some kids toys and a few decorative items. The vast majority of our items were given away to students in local universities and goodwill.

How much did it cost you to move from Dallas to Bangalore?

ashamurali;111881HI all,
We just R2ied in May. Have been meaning to write in this forum. Just couldn't find the time. I had shipped my stuff on May 7th from dallas to bangalore. We had about 750 cuft worth of things. Used a 20ft container. I hired a dallas based mover called Daryl Flood who is part of the mayflower moving group. They came on 7th and packed all of our stuff. They were done loading by 4PM, sealed the container in front of me and took it to their warehouse. Due to high demand for shipping vessels, they couldn't find space till 1st June. All that time, they kept us informed about the progress. OUr shipment arrived in chennai on July 7th and in bangalore by July 14th. Between 1st JUne and 7th July, the indian partner kept us informed about the progress. He even gave me a website where I could login and check the status. A week before July 14th, the local guys in bangalore (globe movers) called me and asked me sign certain documents and asked me to come for customs on 16th. I went on 16th and it was a breeze. The customs guy opened up a few boxes and since I didn't have any electronics other than a keyboard and a couple of computers and boom boxes, asked me to pay 1000 INR as duty. Was done in about 30 minutes. The movers delivered the stuff by Thursday the 17th and almost everything was in good shape.
If anyone moving from dallas wants to use these guys, they are fairly professional, good and competitve in price as well.

Murali

All Risk for $33000 (Additional 300 Dollars. This insurance usually costs 2% of the insured amount. Thanks to Mr. Yogesh Thakkar for offering a discount).

Is this right? $33,000 for insurance?

Yes. $300 to cover $33000 all risk insurance. From what I know all risk insurance for this much coverage costs around $600 (2%) but the shipper was kind enough to offer the discount.

Final update:
I have received all the goods shipped. Everything is accounted for. One plate broken, scanner glass broken. Not bad overall considering that I packed everything myself.
The help on India side of things was good. The stuff did not arrive by April 20th as earlier indicated but by May 5th. Communication by their Indian partner was good especially towards the end. Total charges on India side of things was 2100Rs which was fine. I did not have to go to customs or the port. Everything was handled by them. They sent someone over earlier who took my passport and signed documents.

Overall, I will give the company 4 out of 5 for the job done.
