Shipping experience - Air7Seas (sponsor)

Post by Usa2Ind »

Would like to share my shipping experience with you all in this forum.

Shipped from Virginia to Chennai
Used Air7Seas , FCL 20feet.
Shipped from US on March 12th.
Container reached India on April 30th.
Overall experience : Very satisfied.

The folks at Air7Seas are very good and professional. They were always there to answer questions and help with any issues.
The container came on March 12th, it was a live load, meaning the container came and waited for 2 hours and we loaded everything in that time. We did all our packing by ourselves. For loading we hired some professional movers from a company called PackMules in Sterling Virginia. Those guys are simply amazing. They are thoroughly trained in loading containers. The way they loaded and stacked and used the mattresses as walls and the used ropes to tie everything to hold in place - everything was truly professional. We only wished we had guys like that at the destination to unload and arrange in our house.
The container arrived on 30th and since May 1st and 2nd are holidays, we could clear it only on May 3rd.
Customs people are very good and professional, no expectation of any bribe or anything of that sort.
The went through atleast 15 boxes (We had 110 pieces in the container) inspecting the contents.
They are mainly hunting for electronics. We had two flat screen TVs, Bose home theater, DVD players etc.
We also had leather furniture etc. The customs people charged Rs.10500 for all these. They also specifically said that if anyone ever asks for bribe or anything, that we should let the officers know.
This was truly amazing. We never expected this kind of experience in India.
The container was delivered to our house in Chennai in the middle of the night (as they do not allow containers on roads during the day time). Everything was unloaded neatly to our satisfaction.

So for all you people thinking of whether to ship or not to ship - I would say go ahead with your shipping plans, there is absolutely nothing to fear.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance.

Thanks

@Santosh Verma - Sad to hear about your experience. This is what has happened to me..I shifted my things from Boston to Chennai on last august and unfortunately chosen Air 7 Seas. I had a brand new SONY BRAVIA HDTV with me, which I bought it just for shipping to India at the last moment. Same story cut short - My TV was stolen from their ware house . After the shipment was taken from my door step, I didnt get any updates from Air 7 Seas and for a month and when I checked then- I got to know that TV is stolen and they didn?t ship my items. I think its not just coincidental - there is some nexus working in this - the TVs getting stolen for every time. I have taken insurance for the TV - which they till now didn?t approve (after even 1 year) saying silly reasons. When the TV was stolen, they assured me that I can claim the insurance but till now nothing happened.

I have filed a complaint in BBB (bbb.org) against them and I will go to any extend of they don?t compensate my loss. They think that once we come back to India, we don?t have a choice to fight against them.

As a first step, I would request you to go BBB and raise a complaint against them ?for which they will have to respond. If that also doesn?t help ? let me know. If the negotiations with BBB doesn?t work out I know what to do next in my case. Its time to teach them how powerful is the laws in united states, as I will be back to USA soon.

Hi - I am back here with a good review on Air 7 seas. As mentioned in my previous post, my TV got stolen and the insurance company didn’t compensate my loss. After getting in touch with the customer service of Air 7 seas, as a gesture of good customer support, they gave me $1000 out of their pocket. I really appreciate the move by the company and understand that they do try their level best to satisfy their customers

However, for all those who ship thru Air 7 seas or any other company, I would suggest the following things.

1. Always take insurance for your valuable items (like TV) etc.
2. Read the insurance documents carefully and ensure that the validity of the insurance is not falling thru any of the loop holes mentioned
3. Have the insured items packed thru a professional packing company (Or in original box unopened) and get the certificate from the packing company , Take a photo and send to Air 7 seas.

Thanks to Rema and Team for sorting out my issue.

As I was shopping around to ship some old used books and clothes for our mercy home in India, I came across of Air 7Seas. Priya Mary called me immediately and gave me a very attractive quote. I could sense her smiling face, her courteous attitude and her truthfulness. These attitude prompted me not to shop further, but to stay with Air 7Seas. Her customer service and her very pleasing attitude was very much appreciated. She not only made arrangement to pick up the packages from my home, but followed through the customs in Cochin. What an excellent service and the extra mile she did for her customer! With no doubt in my mind, I will recommend Air 7Seas as long as Priya Mary is there.

Thank you one more time for the excellent service, Priya.

May God bless you.

Sincerely,
Roy Cheriyan
