Guys:

I will be R2Iing in Sept. from Kansas to Pune. I have received quotes from multiple relocation companies. It is interesting how they slice & dice costs differently making apples-to-apples comparison a little difficult even when price is not your sole consideration.

I was told that one option is to not take their services for India portion of logistics, that I would find cheaper alternatives once in India. Even the franchisee of the US operator would happily do the India part of logistics for a fee much smaller than what their US counterparts quote.

My questions are:

1. Have you explored such options for the Mumbai-Pune part of logistics? If so, did you go with that option? Why or why Not? what are your recommendations / learnings?

2. Any specific companies you would suggest? How much did you pay for India part of the logistics?

3. Does the US operator still handle customs part or can that be handled by the business in India as well?

4. Anything else I should be aware of / cautious about?

I will be interested in knowing this as well.
