Storage rental in Pune ?

Is there a concept of renting storage space (like the self storage units they have in US) in a place like Pune ? I need to store around 25 boxes which I will move from here. Since I will be renting a 3 bedroom furnished apartment for the first year, I will not have any space inside the apartment to keep these boxes.

I'm expecting a similar situation for myself and plan to rent a garage for 500-1000/-

What do you mean by a garage ? You mean rent it from a house owner ? Most of the rowhouses don't have a garage in India. Do you mean a garage in a bungalow ? Rs. 1000 per month is quite reasonable if I could get such a place. How about security of your goods ? How do you protect against theft if it is a garage used everyday by the owners etc. ?

I'm not sure about Pune, but in BLR until recently and even now it is not uncommon for one to rent a garage from a single fmly home, not necessarily a bungalow.

There are home/owners in BLR with attached garages but no cars. I'd rent from them and it'll solely be mine. Owner shall not have access to it.

I R2I-ed recently and decided to rent a 1BHK in kothrud for 5k per month to store all my stuff. The reson I selected a 5k rental vs. a storage with shutter (most often in the middle of nowhere) is security.

Hi all,

I am planning to start packing for relocation. Would you be able to point me to any threads on the following questions:

1. Which is the best place to get good quality boxes at a relatively inexpensive price? I will likely need around 30 - 40 medium to large boxes. (say - 2 ft x 2 ft x 2 ft).

2. Has anyone researched storage space in Pune? What are the options and the associated costs?

We are planning to R2I in April 2008 to Pune. I have been looking for movers/packers in pune area which offer warehousing/storage as well. I got to this list:
