I made up my mind to go for Hyundai I20 car. Really liked it and has not yet test-driven. I need help on deciding whether i should go for Automatic transmission or Manual gear?
My spouse cant drive manual hence leaning towards auto-trans, but worried what would on the petrol price I would need to spend in addition (because I heard auto-trans consumsed lots of patrol than manual).

Thanks in advance for all comments suggestions (even on the car choice).

Pune_Dude, My FIL bought Hyundai i20, automatic transmission about 2 weeks back. He did not like any car after test driving this one and had to wait for 4 months (since he is in a tier 2/3 city in UP) to get it. It has not been long but so far he is very happy with the car.My father has been driving i10 for the last 3 years.manual one. extremely satisfied. just that he finds Hyundai maintenance more expensive compared to Maruti(he has marutis all his life).

Not a choice really. Go for Auto. The consumption difference will not be more than 10%. I think that is also the difference between A/C and non-A/C cars.

I understand that the difference in mileage between AT and MT is about 1kmpl. However , one of my relative bought a i10 MT and claims 4kmpl difference (hearsay).

Driving MT is a pain. AT is worth the money. I guess all R2I'ers will echo the same thing...

I R2i-ed in Sep. Bought the I10 - Auto in Oct. Working fantastically. My wife drives the car primarily.

My criteria was simple - Auto (No negotiations, Auto should be THE only option to drive a car in India )
Preferably - under 10L

i20 was about 3L more than the i10. I did not want to spend 3L extra for a little more booty space and interiors. i10 has been a great car. Our daily travel is about 50Km each day and mostly highway miles over the weekend. It gives me a mileage of about 13-15.

I would recommend the i10. I am sure the i20 is the same.

Go for Auto !

We R2i'd in Feb. Bought i10 Auto in Mar/Apr. It has been driving nicely. We also got Auto because wife was comfortable with it (used to driving in the US). i10 was the only option for auto in small segment, so that was easy. Definitely my wife is finding it as a boon in the terrible Pune traffic. I think little less mileage is worth than constant clutching and non-mobility for wife!

The only issue (not related) we had is - I park my car on the road daily (the office doesn't have adequate parking, which really sucks!), actually pay the PMC for it and one day someone scratched it. This is a brand new car and the scratch is not minor. It has several criss-cross lines covering half of the driver side door. Really beats me what pleasure he/she got!
