Hi,

I'm looking into getting job in IBM or Cognizant in Pune after R2I in Jun2010. Could any one give me good schools near to Cognizant & IBM office location.

This will help me decide my residence as well as my job option.

I'm totally new to Pune area.

Thanks for your help,

RV

I assume that your office willl be in hinjewadi IT park . There are no good schools in in hinjewadi ( at least that i know of ). all the schools are in pune city or in outskirts like baner , aundh, near chandani chowk etc. you will need to find a place to stay in one of these areas and commute to work. it takes around 20 - 45 mins one way depending upon the area you are staying

rreword: as far as I know, Cognizant is on S.B. rd. and IBM 'may' be in Hinjewadi. One ques. to you, how are you planning to get jobs in these cos. are these thru contacts? or how. some info will help. thanks.
Secondly I would suggest, get a house near the school the kids will go to, not your office. if one spouse is at home. else , near office will be better. if u r near SB rd, then Vikhe patil school, Vidya bhavan, Loyola, would be good ones. If Hinjewadi, then Kothrud is better area for stay. then schools near here would do. hope this helps.

Hi GSJ,

Thanks for the info. Just like rrword, I am researching the places to stay in pune post-r2i. I have been to Pune a couple of times, but still don't know enough..and doing a somewhat comparison of pune vs. bangalore.

Are there good gated communities in pune in the areas that you mentioned (like in bangalore). I understand pune is probably not as "METROed" yet as Blore, just I guess there must be lot of nice communities with all the amenities (parks, gym, pools) inside the walls....with some many IT professionals and r2i hoarding this city as well...

Any more details will be appreciated....thx

IBM has multiple locations in Pune. My sis-in-law works with IBM Bangalore and may soon get a transfer to Hinjewadi. She has booked a flat in Baner (about 20 minutes from Hinjewadi)

IBM address: IBM India Pvt Ltd, Embassy Techzone, Plot no 03, Rajiv Gandhi Infotech Park, Phase 2, MIDC, Hinjewadi, Pune 411057.

A new school in Hinjewadi - Paranjape's Blue Ridge Public School (ICSE). I don't have much info abt the school, but you can google.

r2i_real,
There are lot of communities with all these facilities available. This is how you decision process should go to prioritise house location....Near to Kids school, Office, then near to daily needs like groceries, , etc. there is lot of choice available. it may not be as metroed as b'lore but somewhat there.

IBM now has a presence in both Hinjewadi and Hadapsar. Infact it is growing its presence in Hinjewadi.

Baner is a nice place to stay with multiple choices of school. DAV, Orchid, Sanskriti, Merc-Benz, Blue Ridge, etc. You need to visit them and a choice for yourself. Now a days the principal and/or the admission coordinator in most schools are the marketing exec's and try to impress you with their mission and philosophies. Inherently all schools have the same mission and philosophy. All schools are inherently same and it is for you to visit the school and get a sense of how your kids will fit in the prevailing environment. Be objective and not emotional.
