We are planning to return to India in May ' 2011.We would also be seeking admission to Std. I for our son.
However, the academic session in US ends in May '2011 but by that time all admissions in India would be over.
So there are 2 choices :
1.We can visit India in March/April , take admission and then return permanently in May.
2. Try and look for admission in May '2011.
Has anyone used option 2 below ?
Which option is better ?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks !

OP
the school admissions over here start in Nov and Dec. So march /April might also be late. What I would suggest is to contact the schools you are intrested in by phone or email and get to know each school's process. Some schools will say that you need to be here in dec or some schools might be okay to wait until May and then decide on the admission.
In general coming in may and getting admisison to Jr KG is little easier since there are lot more vacant seats. Getting admission to 1st std is difficult since most of the students will be moving up from Sr Kg with very few seats left open. These seats also get filled up in Jan usually.
Hopefully this helps

Hi India19,
We have been in Pune now for 2 days, and have taken admission for our 2 children at Vibgyor High in Nibm Road area, We had intially decided that we would taken admission at Sharad Pawar International, but when we arrived and saw the school, we were very impressed with the surrounding, but most disappointed with the teaching and their attitude. My younger one needed admission into snr kg, however they have only 4 students all who are boys and the teacher had a cant be bothered attitude, and grd 1 teacher seemed a little better but not what I would call inspiring. Also they charge for sports activites - but actually dont do them with your children until grade 5/6 ( so why charge), bus services is abit hit and miss even though they have only 300 students in whole school.
We only today have taken admission at Vibgyor and are really happy with the decision, their were some parents even there with whom we spoke, saw kids in action in class, children very happliy playing outside in basketball court, and younger one in sand pit area. They have 28 student per class with 2 teachers, facilites are clean and tidy.
I hope this helps, you are welcome to email on
[email protected], and I will help wherever I can.

Hi there we have taken mid term admission for both our kids at Vibgyor High in Nibm road area, and they have no problems at all about it. But most of the other school. The school is lovely in all aspects and teaching standards are high, I spoke with parents and they all seemed postive about the school.
When I was in London, and made contact with all schools like Bishops, St mary's. St arnolds, they all have very strict method and you have to taake admission by Nov/Dec.
It depends on where you shall be living, we are living in Koregoan Park and the journey is a maximum of 30 mins each way.
I hope this helps !
