Hi All. I am posting below my research so far on the schools in Kharadi area. We would like to buy a house in Gera's Sky Villa.

INFORMATION ON SCHOOLS NEAR KHARDI AREA, PUNE

This information was gathered keeping in mind 9th grade and 6th grade student who don?t know Hindi and Marathi.

SYMBIOSIS INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL - For : IGCSE - CAMBRIDGE BOARD
Language ? 1st - English and 2nd - Hindi or French or Spanish
French starts at 3rd grade, so by 9th grade it is NOT basic ? some prior knowledge of French will be needed. For 6th grade, it will be easier to cope as it is still quite basic at 6th grade.

School starts in 1st week of June and ends in Mid April.

Timing : 7:30 to 2:00 pm

There is a Competency test kids have to take. It takes about 1 to 1 ½ hour to complete. This is more of a formality.

268,000 Annual
30,000 Deposit ? Refundable
7,000 Admission fees
30,000 for 9th and 10th grade examination fee ? one payment for both years.

French ? Same as Symbiosis (read above)
Marathi is compulsory but only up to 6th grade ? She said my 6th grader will be able to cope, as it is not very advanced. No Marathi 7th onwards.

LEXICON INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL ? Could not get hold of anybody as they close at 2:30, I will call them tonight and post.

CBSE BOARD
New school ? till 4th grade this year. Next year they will have 5th grade, but might add 6th grade also.

She said Marathi will start at 6th grade, so no problem with my 6th grader.
Hindi : She said for 6th grade it will not be a very big issue and said they will provide special attention and resources for the child for Hindi.
They are planning to offer a foreign language from next year ? not yet decided on which ? French/Spanish/German.
Decision will be made by end of November about ? the foreign language and also if they will have 6th grade or not.

7:30 to 2:00
June to April
Fees : 38,000 per annum plus 10,000 admission fee and 5,000 refundable deposit.

We are looking to move to Pune in April 2011, and I was wondering which school you have settled for your children, I have a 6 years old boy and 4 year old girl and have looked into, Vibgyor High, Vidya Valley, Orchid, Lexicon and Orbis, what are you thoughts ?

Thanks for the post on the fees for Symbiosis. I have sent them couple of emails - no response though.
Have you finalized on the school? Can you please share your selection criteria?
