Hi,
Me and my family are all PIO card holders settled in Pune for around 4 months now. We will be soon applying for OCI but before that we need to register with FRRO as our stay would be more than 6 months on PIO card.
Can anybody please advise the location of FRRO office in Pune where we can register.
Thanks.

My kids are USC on PIO cards as well and we plan to R2I for good next year. Do I have to apply for OCI necessarily or can I just register them with FRRO once and I am done?

Well you will have to register with FRRO everytime you change your place of residence especially when you change from one city to another. Every time you enter India you have to register again within 6 months, even if you left India on a short trip. Do not assume that once you register then you don't have to register after short trips abroad. The PIO has a validity and you need to renew it on expiry. OCI you need not worry to register with FRRO, need not worry how many times you leave and enter India.

Thanks RajBulland
It seems like a hassle but I do not envision moving residence out of Pune. Registering after trips abroad may be a pain though.
Considering both my kids kids have PIO cards valid till 2020 do you still see a need to apply for an OCI for them? They could then apply for OCI once PIO cards expires in 2020.
thanks
Jan

If I were you I would apply for the OCI right away. PIO Holders do not have to pay full fees for the OCI.

Hi Pune_destination, did you manage to get FRRO registration done? If yes, can you please share the procedure with us (documents, photos, exactly what needs to be done at frro office etc)? Thank you.
