Dear friends, i just LOVE this site, OMG i have been an on-and-off of this site for the last few months and i could not even cover a tenth of it.
Anyways, i am in currently in the US, got a job offer in Gurgaon and will be moving late March or early April. I have a few questions, and really not much time to read through the entire site. So, i am hoping experienced folks can help me.
1) First of all, i am from Hyd and completely new to the GGN area. If any folks have R2I'd there recently, i am defnitely looking to make acquaintances. Please PM me.
2) Apartments: Can someone suggest good areas to stay in Gurgaon
3) Schools: I need admission for my daughter who is 4.5 years old. Can some one suggest any good schools that will still give her admission when we reach there in April?
Any help is appreciated

R2I ing to NCR/Gurgaon in April - HELO
Hi,
I'm American, but my husband is Indian and I live in Gurgaon. I'm in the US right now, but am returning to Gurgaon in 2 weeks.
I don't know about schools much. However, my friend seemed to like one that I can't really remember the name of - but it is a school within a society so that might be the place to go or live. If you want, I can ask her the name.
Gurgaon is rather spread out. I would say it is good to live near Golf Course or MG Road. I am going to live in a society called Ridgewood. It is one block from a huge shopping complex in both directions. One is called Galleria Market and the other is Supermart 1. How much rent can you pay? I am getting unfurnished 3 bhk for 25,000 Rs/month. I believe that is about the average price in that area. When I lived there before, however, I lived in Sector 56. It is a bit far removed, about 10 km from the MG road. However, it is quiet, there is a school nearby called Scottish school and I paid 15,000 Rs/mnth. If that sounds better and you have your own transportation, then let me know and I can get you some more information. Where is your job (address)?
So, now you have made your first acquaintance. Grin. I am Hannah and my husband is Raj. Please e-mail me at [email protected]. Look forward to hearing from you. You can ask me anything. I love Gurgaon...(some people think I'm weird for that but hey ha ha). It does get HOT tho...I heard it's not as hot down south.
Take care,
Hannah

Sorry for not being back on the forum for last few months. We finally R2I'ed to Gurgaon in Feb 2011 and had been crazy busy settling down.
To answer your question jublieesong gave you an idea on sector 56, We are staying Sect 43 Rent+Maint for 3 bedroom is 21K. When we looked around in March Rent is in the range of 20K -25K in and around sec 43-56. If you go to DLF properties the apartments are small and around 35K for 3 BHK (like Princeton etc). On Sohna road we saw some app. like Parwasnath etc for 18K 3BHK but that is around 10-15 Km from MG road. No idea on schools. I hope this helps!
