hi
we just r2ied to chennai. we are looking for a child specialist in and around alwarpet. we have a 2 yr old daughter. does anybody know a good child specialist in this area?

I dont know anyone in alwarpet.

Deepa hariharan at anna nagar apollo hospital is a good one.she did her medicine degree in usa and returned to india.

Dr. Benjamin in Malar Hospital, Adyar is good.

We too just returned to Chennai in June 2007 and settled in Adyar area. Looking for a very good private hospital and also a good paediatrics doctor for my kids. Any recommedations?

We have used a doctor, Balasubramaniam, for almost thirty years with excellent results. He is a pediatrician and a general consultant. With lots of fake doctors around, he is one we trust.

He now has his practice on Norton Road in Mandaivelli. Even when we lived in Thiruvanmiyur, we drove all the way to his clinic (which looks pretty run down) because we were comfortable with him.

When we were kids, my sister had some weird symptoms. So we went to a neiborhood doctor. That guy gave some color tablets from his glass jar. The situation for my sister got worse. Finally, we bit the bullet and fled to our trusted Balasubramaniam, who diagnosed the matter. My sister was fine in a matter of days.

For major hospital level stuff, the only place to trust is Apollo. There are other places like Ramachandra, Lifeline etc but they have mixed results based on our personal experience. Malar has worked out well for us so far. But with Apollo as an option, we don't go there much any more.

For eye problems, we found an excellent doctor in Dr Ramesh in Indira Nagar. He has his practice off a lane close to Sony World. His clinic is always crowded so book ahead.

when we were in mandaveli , we used to go to Dr.Mahendran(son of Dr.Ekambaram).He is a very nice doctor, soft spoken and talented.
