Bollineni in Chemmencheri has BVM Global (Bala Vidya Mandir group). Its operational from this year. There is one more BVM global in Kanthanchavadi (near toll gate). Sishya is starting in Thoraipakkam (near D.B.Jain college), again from this year. Scholl wise, this area is really getting almost all major school franchisees. Quality will be know only after five years.

Here is some information I have gathered upon visiting few schools in the OMR streatch. Please view
this as an information and do your due diligence.I have noted down some of my own observation.
Most of the fee information furnished below is for Istd mainly, but other info is applicable for
other classes as well.
SISHYA
Syllabus: ICSE
Classes: Upto X
Strength for I= 30 ea, 2 sections
Application: Nov/Dec
Entrance: Yes- around March
Fee: Rs. 33,000 pa
Reviews from parents: Good.
Chances of getting an admission: Very bleak for joining higher classes, unless you put your kid in
LKG. There should be drop outs in other classes, for them to admit your kid.
Infrastructure : Good. started fairly new- demand has spiked because of word of mouth and the Adyar
campus. But this one and Adyar campus are run seperately as I was told.
Other: Loads of Homework, cycle tests, a typical school which prepares one for a rat race, and
parents just love that.

Gateway(behind Infosys)
Syllabus: IGSCE Cambridge
Classes: Upto X
Strength for I= 20 ea, 2 sections
Application: Dec
Entrance: Yes- after appln
Fee: Rs. 1.12 lacs pa
Reviews from parents: I heard from other parents that they are short-staffed
Other: there are other extra-curricular activities such as Swimming, dance as part of curriculum.
Chances of getting an admission: easy. pay the money and you will get it. kid has to take the test.
Infrastructure : Good/Great
Help w/Language: They work with the kid, they assess the kid and work with them for language.
My Observation: the school atmosphere, the way they teach, the class appearance gives me the look
and feel of US school. The kid will like it and it would make an easier transition for them.Diverse
kids incl expats, NRI kids, returnees, foreigners, may be few Indian upper class kids as I hear and
observe.

Pon Vidhyashram(ECR road)
Syllabus: CBSE
Classes: Upto XII
Strength for I= 30-35 ea
Application: Nov onwards
Entrance: Yes- Call and find
Fee: Rs. 34,000-35,000 pa
My Observation: This is your typical CBSE school which has vigor in it, kids talking and playing under
marathadi, cyclist kids. Personally, Ideally I would want my kid to go here or to SISHYA as the kid might become street
smart- most kids are middle class oriented.
Other: .
Chances of getting an admission: kid has to take the test.
Infrastructure : Good(depends on your perception- I felt like it is a school like the one I attended)
Help w/Language: They say they will work with the kid, but they were very frank in saying, a
returnee kid might find it extremely hard to adapt to this system, the parent has to work with the
kid, there will be loads of homework.

VAELs Billabong(ECR)
Syllabus: ICSE
Classes: Upto X(A batch will appear for XII board in 2012)
Strength for I= 25 ea, 2 teachers per class
Application: Jan/Feb
Entrance: Yes- after appln
Fee: Rs. 1lacs+ ish pa
Other: there are other extra-curricular activities such as Swimming, theater, football as part of
curriculum.
Chances of getting an admission: easy. pay the money and you will get it. kid has to take the test.
Infrastructure : Great- feels international
Help w/Language: They work with the kid, they assess the kid and work with them for language.
My Observation: the school atmosphere, the things the kids had like the bags etc(all themed like Dora, Princess, SpiderMan) made me think if I was in US or is it still Chennai. The restrooms were awesome. There were tons of Innovas, Accord, Toyotas waiting for the kid to be picked up by driver walas. They have a system just like the schools here, they verify who is coming to pick and such. If a parent's intent is raise their kid like themselves then this might not be the place, the environment is truly international - all comes with a price.

Vaels and Pon Vidhyashram are adjacent to each other, but they are in 2 ends of the spectrum in infrastructure and activities.

DLF Padma Sheshadri(franchise)
Syllabus: CBSE
Fee: Rs. 75,000 ish + pa
There is a test. Getting an Admission will be very easy, partly because the apt is not ready yet, partly because of drop outs lately since SISHYA started as I hear.
The access road for this school is through the Tsunami relief.

L&T Padmasheshadri- Not a franchise, a branch of the actual school
Proposed to be open in 2011 school year. Did not find progress when I visited in July.

My 2 cents

BVM Global

School - Very famous school in chennai
Admission - Very tough but straight forward, Go write the exam , if you pass you can pay fee
Teaching - Great (CBSE)
Atmosphere : I am not happy . My kid come back daily with complaints of Stinking Restrooms, A/c Switched off etc
Access road : No road at all .. we were promised that the road will be laid but now they don't care . So kid have to travel in school bus (which i tried to avoid) in the bumpy gravel road ..
Over all : Happy from academic point but from Hygeine part very poor

i TRIED TO PROVIDE MY dAUGHTER A SMOOTH LANDING DURING r2i but the school front spoiled everything , iam ready to change her to a different school , but my wife is very happy from academic perspective ... So for now she continue at BVM
