I seem to have trouble with accepting the cost of living in India after having lived outside the country for 12 years :)). School fees., maid's salary, cost of petrol, groceries, vegetables and so on are way more than what I had guessed. So I have no idea if the rate the hindi teacher is quoting for private tutoring of my kids in Bangalore is correct or she is trying to make more money knowing than we are from US. The rate she is charging for private tutoring in her home at Indira Nagar is Rs. 200/hour. That means if I send my kid for 3 classes a week, I have to shell out 600/week or 2400/month :emcrook:. Can anybody in Bangalore help me decide if the rate is acceptable or not?

50 bucks US dollars per month 3x a week at 1 hour each session seems like a BARGAIN. If you want to compare how much tutors are here...even the most basic tutor is 10-15 bucks an hour. So you would be paying 120-180 per month.

Seems like a bargain to me....ONLY if you are converting to dollars.

for good Hindi tutoring, look around for Madras or Mysore Hindi Prachar Sabha. They will start with Prathmic, and then proceed to Madhyama, Rashtrabasha, etc..

Firstly, this should be quite effective way of teaching, and my guess is, will make economical sense too.
