Hi All,

I;m an NRI living in London and I'm going to be moving to Bangalore in the next few months to take up a job with my family. I needed help with figuring out where to live and what schools I should look at...

My job is in ITPL Whitefield but I'd like to live in a social and buzzing place instead of the outskirts so that I can immerse myself in India :). So, my questions are:

Which areas should I be looking to live in - I've read elsewhere on these forums that Kormangala is the place to live if you want in the thick of it and to get the real India feeling and not the sterile expat thing.

What is the commute time from Koramangala to ITPL, Whitefield.

What are the good schools (international and local) in Koramangala and what is the journey time like.

Commute from Koramangala to ITPL would be min 1 hour one way during peak hours (between 8:30am to 10:30am)

Schools in Koramangala - NPS (Koramangala), Bethany are well known schools. There are no international schools in Koramangala (except Greenwood High's pre-primary branch). Most of the international schools are in Sarjapur-Whitefield belt or North Bangalore. Commute to international schools from Koramangala would be more or less similar.

Commute is one of the reasons why people working in ITPL/ORR prefer staying closer to Whitefield and surrounding areas.

Is Whitefield 'happening' or is it very quiet?

There are quite a few apartments and a lot of villa communities in Whitefield. Prestige Shantiniketan, Brigade Metropolis etc are some of the big builder apartment complexes. I cannot comment much about Whitefield - but there are a lot of people on this forum who can recommend a good complex (there are many threads on whitefield). There are quite a few malls etc coming up in this area.

Schools - Deens, Vibgyor, Greenwood High, Gopalan, Brigade, DPS (new branch), Euro school (new branch), Gear (new branch). I might have missed a few. Reviews on these schools are available on zeeksha, parentree as well as this forum.
