My Roots;585971ord2pnq , How do manage to clean defecate of dog?

I live in apt and I tell most of the owners smartly go behind some cars in dark area and get the work done. It has becoming a true trouble for all residents.

Yes if owners go about doing their business behind cars then it can cause a lot of trouble

you didn't answer my question.

How do you manage to clean defecate of dog?

Do you let dog play in the same play area where young kids also play?

Do you use service lift only OR all other lifts for your dog?

These two babies are looking forward to making Bangalore their new home!!!

One is a 7 month old GSD and the other is a senior citizen mixed breed :-)))

1. Looking for information on pet friendly apartments in Marathahalli (The likes of Purva Fountain Square or similar such). Both of my pups are calm, and quiet, but I have heard horror stories on people being rude to their neighbors and asking them to vacate the house due to dogs. Is this even true?
2. What Pet foods are recommended, or is home cooked recommended?
3. Can anyone share information on good Vets?
4. Lastly, are dogs allowed in parks to run around? If not, how do you guys as dog parents exercise them?

Have you owned dogs before?

Dry pet foods keep the teeth clean to large extent. Home cooked food is sticky and will need regular cleaning from the vet. Depending on the breed some foods are a strict no-no. I have a 10 year old Bichon. His breed has joint problems and hence milk products are a no-no because the calcium deposits can aggravate the arthritis problems.

Some food are bad for their coats and skin. I know a punjabi family who visited us Delhi. They feed their dog "simple sa" makhan wale parathe and doodh.

Dogs should never be allowed to run freely. They may be your dogs but they are also animals. You never know what will tick them off or scare them and make them react adversely. They should always be on leash. Maryland has a $500 fine for walking dogs with out leash and for a good reason. We do have dog parks where you can let them be without a leash.

My roots question is unanswered but cleaning after your dogs is a must. Swacch bharat, akela modi kitna karega :)

Hyd

I have a 10 year old Bichon and and a very handsome 2 year old Tibetan terrier. Both bring immense joy with their unconditional loving.

Sure, I do clean up, many others don't. Nor do the owners of the cows who drop kilo toned bombs all over the street or the goatherds whose flock leave marble sized droppings all over the place. Us poor owners who take their dogs out on the adjoining street have a hard time avoiding these poop bombs or poop bullets.

Whether the kids play out on the street or not is upto their parents.

Cannot comment on where the in-house strays do their business, likewise for the dogs who are walked by maids. Haven't seen them on the street, so the assumption is that they try other avenues. Whether their realm overlaps with kids playing area or not could be an interesting topic to be investigated.

I am talking about apartment premise and not public streets.

I and l am sure many of us pay through nose for amenities and expect hygiene environment and do not want our kids to play with dog poops in playing area.

The fact is that dog owners in India have a long way to go before expecting the entire society to resonate their feelings. They do not clean after their dog poop, urinating behind cars and play area is most common thing, let dogs play in same play area where young kids and infants play around and though there is a service lift, they use other elevators as well. There could be one or two exception and I am sure ord2pnq fall under that category. The worst things is they conveniently put all blame on maids when facts are shown with evidence. It's same for other issues as well(not specific to per related)

My suggestion to OP is rent an apartment where there is a designated dog area for walk, play otherwise other residents do oppose and be ready for it.

Call me as no pet lover, I do not mind and we are facing this issue on daily basis.

We have similar problems...in an Apt community in the US!! I don't know why dog-owners think their dog "does not do anything" or is "very friendly" when obviously he has scared the shit out of my 3-year old by trying to lick him/smell...Have adults experiences a feeling when a 4-legged beast that is tall enough to look you in the eye jumps at you? Is it so difficult to imagine how scary it must be for kids/others when dogs jump at them, even if it is just to smell them?

I am not a dog-hater...but I find it strange that many dog owners expect that others should also find their dogs "cute" or pat them and get horrified when people don't want to get in the elevator with their dog...even if the dog has a smell and is shedding hair. At least our community has made a dog park recently so that keeps the dogs off of the children's play area...else earlier people were expected to understand that their dog "doesn't do anything" even when he is running straight into a toddler. The rules for separate elevators are in place but the dog-owners don't care for them...

I can only imagine how worse the situation in India would be...

That's my rant for the day.

PS: OP, I don't live in Bangalore...so one less "dog-unfriendly" person for you to deal with. :)

Interesting conversation.

No, I dont take offense when someone says they dont like dogs. I, for one, freak out when I see a cat!!! So, I can relate...But, unfortunately, the responsible people also get a bad rap, because of a few irresponsible ones. I have had dogs for the last 12 years, and no, I do not expect someone else's child or adult for that matter to come and pet my dog. As much as the child freaks out, so does the dog. And the pooping/peeing business should be away from where kids roll around in the grass. I get that too. Which is the intent of the original post - are there pet friendly apartments with designated dog area? And for those of us who are used to cleaning up after our dog's poop for 12 years, it becomes second nature, and we just cannot walk away leaving that behind. Poop bags come in handy, am sure ;)

Again, it's just a forum to discuss and vent. No need to get upset...

Hyderabadi, yes, I have had dogs, but the question about dog food was due to my confusion about what is available in India. We are moving back from the US, and I wasn't sure what to feed them when I come back. Pedigree is not a brand we use now, and wanted to get a feedback on which ones are good quality ones.

Not sure how to discuss this elevator topic though....

May your tribe increase!! :)

Frankly, I know there are some good dog-owners who follow rules too. The ones that don't unfortunately make life difficult for other non-dog owners and give a bad name to dog-owners. In fact just today just a few steps outside my apartment in the hallway there is dog-poop since morning...in the HALLWAY! It was likely an accident but surely the owner could have cleaned it?!

Anyways, don't intend to hijack your thread. May you find pet-friendly apartments that you are looking for. All the best! :)
