I'm leaning towards GEAR. Can I ask which school you are not satisfied with the academics?

A Google search revealed some disturbing information about Gear. Arrogant in accessible management, fee taken without receipt on and on

VJS;673698Hi, which one did you go with? Any feedback on Candor ?

In the short 2 years we have been here, kids have been to two different schools! First, they went to GEAR. After the initial culture shock for the first couple of weeks, they settled down very well in the school and enjoyed being part of the many activities the school offers. We moved out only for family reasons. Even though they have a closed environment to outsiders, GEAR offers a wonderful environment for kids to grow themselves. They also stress on academics. Of course, as is quite typical in Bangalore schools these days, there is quite a bit of churn in teachers. Academics apart, they offer a multitude of extracurricular activities. Unfortunately for us, just after we left they recruited an excellent Chess coach. In local chess tournaments, it's very common to find many GEAR students. Their annual day, talents day programs etc are very thoughtfully done. After GEAR, we moved the kids to NAFL which has been a big let down. Academic rigor exists only in the traditional way of speaking (rote memorization, completeness rather than understanding), extracurriculars and sports is a big zero. The high fees certainly is not justified. Added to that the few out of school programs the school insists children participate in are ridiculously expensive with hardly any learning experience attached. All said and done, I want to add that I have two children who are very close in age (grades 4 and 5 when we moved to GEAR) and so, they have each other to help them get through new environment.

Thanks, Supra37. Your feedback about both Gear and NAFL helps me choose.
