Hi,

I recently R2I'd to Hyd and purchased a flat (new-built). The registration of Sale Deed is completed.

However, I understand that I need to apply for 'mutation' for tax assessment. Can anybody please suggest how to do it or where can I get more information?

Many thanks in advance..

As far as I know, 'mutation' means change of ownership of the property from the previous owners ( perhaps the builders - in your case) name to yours in the Municipal records. It is done in the local Municipal Office where the Property is located. Details, forms, documents needed and fees info can be obtained from there.

My Mother had to do this recently- change the ownership of my parents home from Dad's name to hers ( he passed away almost 6 years ago). She needed Dad's will and signatures of all the legal heirs ( her children)- among other things.

Thanks a lot. I live in Hyderabad (Madhapur area) - so I guess, I need to go to GHMC office (?). Anybody did this recently with GHMC for a new-built flat? Just wanted to know whether the process is simple or time-consuming/stressful?

I thought Madhapur came under serlingampally Municipality ? The process is pretty straight forward, if you have all the documents needed. Proof of property tax paid thus far ( past receipts)- seemed another thing they were particular about. Don't know if it is relevant to a brand new appt. A visit to the office should clarify that. The process might take a month or two.

Hopefully, somebody who has " mutated ":) a brand new apt will chime in!
