how much do u need to earn/month to maintain a family in hyderabad?
2 kids, parents. factoring in their own house, schools, a car, servant to clean dishes and a dhobi.
i'm sure this is one of the first questions that go thru any R2I person.
pls. kindly share ur thoughts and estimates. there might've been some existing studies. if so, pls. post those links in here.

Its best to R2I after owning a house.
Assuming that -
2-3 Servants + driver -> Rs. 10K
School fees (intl school) -> Rs. 10K/kid
Misc. (excluding car payment) -> 20K
-----------------
Rs. 50K

I want to be realistic here.
Electicity Bill: 5,000 (common electrical applicances)
Phone Bill(Landline+Cell): 2,000
Car+Bike Petrol: 4,000 (Avg - including office commute)
Servants: 2,000
School Fees: 5,000 (per month per kid - Avg)
Regular Groceries: 5,000 (Avg)
Weekend Outings: 4,000 (Avg)
Water Bill: 1,000 (Avg)
Insurance Premiums like
Life, Home, Health, Car: 5,000 (Avg, but this varies per person)
Car Maintenance: 2,000 (Just to keep aside)
Total = Rs 35,000 + Rs 5,000 (Some extras) = Rs 40,000
If you do not own a house, add a 20,000 towards rent. If you own a house and still paying EMis by the time of R2I, you may add on Avg Rs 40,000 (or your actual EMI).

ur calc should be 40k + 5k misc. right? u've counted only 1 kid's school fee.
we should also expect an EMI for a car. avg 10k.
2k for servants seem lil less. cleaning dishes, sweeping floors, cleaning bathrooms, washing clothes and ironing!!

Thanks!
That looks like a realistic breakdown.
At the risk of diverting the thread- I would like to ask a few questions..
Are the kids going to international schools?
Breakdown for the maids..do they do cooking also. Is it difficult to get maids in hyd, I heard that it is getting increasingly difficult to find good help in Blore. I am from Kerala and planning to move to hyd and I am terrified about domestic chores in India. It just feels like endless work esp if you want your house squeaky clean.
Thanks again!
