> Am getting ready to file tax in India for my 4 months of employment,

> My HR is asking for US employment history and she says its mandatory.

Hi brick2007 / rmandy,

If your stay in India in the financial year is less than 182 days, you will be a Non Resident from the India Income tax point of view. You are required to file the India income tax return only for the income accrued and arised from India, there is no need to report your US tax history. You just need to provide the number of days you were present in India during the last 10 years to correctly calculate your residential status.

You can share the same details with your HR and file India income tax return based on your salary income for 4 months.

We provide both USA and India tax filing services, for more information you can contact us on [email protected]

Regards,
KKA
