Sure you can file online using turbo tax, tax cut or whatever else. Not a problem. However double taxation credit issues and other stuff may complicate things for you.

You have mentioned OCI twice - it has no bearing on your US taxes or Indian taxes.
The form for US taxes is form 1040. Familiarize yourself with foreign documents.

Hi,
I have a profile similar to OP.
I have been filing my taxes in US thru turbo tax online since 2000 and I moved to India last year. Today morning I started entering my data into turbo tax online. In the address column, I entered my current Indian address and I saw note saying e-filing not allowed from foreign address.
Is it a constraint added by turbo tax or IRS. Or am I doing something wrong.
Help please.

Read the information at the links I provided in previous post.
Here I reproduce some information. By the way, you can print out from Turbo tax and mail it in.

Hi all,
I was wondering if it is possible to e-file your U.S tax returns from India, I have relocated to Bangalore in Sept 2005. Last year I sent all my tax info to a CPA in the U.S who did all the filing for me. This year I want to do this on my own since the CPA charges more money than my tax returns ! I have conflicting views if taxes can be filed electronically with a foreign address.
Here are my questions :
1. Can someone with a foreign address e-file their taxes or should the forms be printed out and mailed ?
2. What software to buy (download) ? Turbo tax ?
Thank you for any info related to thsi topic.

Most of the software do address validation and hence not possible to fill up foreign address.
One suggestion I made to one of my friend is.
1) Use taxact to fill up everything with blank address - use that to compute deductions, taxes etc
2) Save the PDF file and print it. It is free and cost nothing.
3) Fill in the Indian address and send it by postal mail along with checks if any.

I am using turbotax.com (online version). After R2I, I plan to file that way through turbotax.com. For the address, I might give my relative's address.
Would that work ok?

Mulder,
If you are using a relative's address in the U.S, what it means to IRS is that you are staying in that state. Example: If you put in Connecticut address, then you will have to file as a resident for that state, in which case you cannot claim the foreign residency credit.
