Encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in Gujarat - What's new?

I have noticed so far no post on ?Encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in Gujarat? so I?m opening up this thread with hopes of healthy discussion without hurting anyone?s religious feelings.
Encounter happens every where but specially this time it has happened in Gujarat and yet again CM of Gujarat is Narendra Modi. Can English media afford to miss coverage on issue after Godhara? It made all the way in to top headlines of BBC!
Fake encounter is sort of medium used by Indian Police and it is nothing new for our society. Our laws allow terrorist, criminals to set free and only viable solution is to put end to their life story. In the efforts of cleaning bad, police get busted for encounters.
What has happened in Gujarat has happened outside of Gujarat many more times but once again dying congress in Gujarat has given religious color to entire issue along with media. What has been left out the equation is past record of these criminals! Also, 3rd guy who was also killed in encounter ? Tulsiram Prajapati.
India is very strange democracy where criminals have more rights than innocent citizens and they get more sympathy also. Dare you touch to criminals and all human rights activists will be after you. We have seen this in the case of Afzal Guru and it is getting repeated one more time.
No one is above the law but if so, why there is so much partiality when it comes to punishing hardcore criminals? We have seen in Isharat Janha?s (LET terrorist killed in Ahmedabad) case that Congress and other media came out in her support only later to be found that she was apprised by terrorist out fit Lashkar-E-Toiba for her ?Shahadat? for what she was doing.
Frankly speaking no one really cares what has happened in Gujarat, but there is nothing else anyone can talk against Narendra Modi and so tries to find fault in to the system. Modi - at present is No. 1 CM of India and such efforts to detract his public impression will only add to more gains!
Regards??

Agree with your thoughts here. Desperate Congress is trying to paint a religious tone to this episode. However, I am curious as to how you/or anyone came up with the No. 1 CM of India. What is the No. 1 ranking for
a)Performance
b)least corrupt
c)longest days for not wearing western clothes:emwink:
d) so on so forth

Lakshya,
I was just trying to list out factors for which the rankings could be based. Obviously he failed factor c):emwink: . However, the onus should be on Udaan to list on what basis is he ranked No. 1 since he/she is the one who stated that.
To be fair, I don't have too much insight into Modi's lifestyle or history, other than the fact that he is not into minority appeasement and I admire him for that.

Hey, actually I was not trying to quote your post, even I was also in impression that he does not wear western outfits, but recently I found this pic so I posted here. Any way we can open separate thread to discuss he is No 1 CM or not?Lets move back to original subject.
I agree with OP, and now days I prefers to watch FOX rather than Indian news channel.

This is a sorry state of affairs when citizens support third degree, brutality and "encounters" by police. We get what we deserve when we lend support to this. This is why anarchy rules.
Sorry, have no sympathies for those thoughts.

Dare who touch? Police? In what kind of system, does police become the judiciary?
Unless proven as a criminal (in a court of law, if we can free courts from the stupid moral police lawsuits), then the sentence per IPC should be meted out. Other than that, no one has any more rights than others.

We have seen this in the case of Afzal Guru and it is getting repeated one more time.
What have we seen? What rights does Afzal have which are more than innocent citizens? Can you elaborate?

That is because our judiciary is broken and in some areas under control of corrupt politicians.
We have seen in Isharat Janha?s (LET terrorist killed in Ahmedabad) case that Congress and other media came out in her support only later to be found that she was apprised by terrorist out fit Lashkar-E-Toiba for her ?Shahadat? for what she was doing.
I do not know anythign about this case, but am not sure if your complaint / dissatisfaction is with Congres, the judiciary or police or are you just posting to sympathise with Gujarat Govt.
Frankly speaking no one really cares what has happened in Gujarat, but there is nothing else anyone can talk against Narendra Modi and so tries to find fault in to the system.
We have had ample discussions on the topic in MSN forum. Suffice it to say, that I see your views flawed and perhaps you see mine as flawed. There are and were legitimate grievances against an elected government engaging in a pogrom (http://hrw.org/reports/2002/india/)

So. Therefore police encounters should be supported! No wonder, anarchy rules.

Someone just sent me this email ?.. Its sounds interesting? Why media is making big deal? ? He was criminal, and this is the way they die, so what?s big deal? LK ??For the last couple of days encounter of Sohrabuddin Sheikh has grabbed media headlines. 3 senior IPS officers were arrested. The question that came to my mind is WHO WAS Sohrabuddin Sheikh. Media has not given me answer. What we found that he had 56 cases against his name. One of the Journalist from Ahmedabad told us? 1. Sheikh belonged to a village near in Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.2. He was the driver of well known Ahmedabad don Abdul Latif who was big don in the 1980's and if I remember correctly received tacit support from the Congress. 3. After the 1992-93 riots in Mumbai Dawood sent arms & ammunitions to various supporters, one of whom was Abdul Latif.4. The police came to know that Latif had received arms and put the heat on him.5. Unable to bear the pressure Latif instructed his driver Sheikh to dispose the arms.6. Sheikh went to his village near Ujjain and threw all the arms in a well.7. The cops got to know of this and arrested Sheikh for anti national activities.8. The Sessions Court sentenced him 5 years imprisonment.9. The Gujarat Govt found the sentence to be too mild and appealed to the higher courts since he was involved in anti national activities. The appeal is pending before the Supreme or Gujarat High Court I am not sure which one. 10. Meanwhile Sheikh finished his five years and was released.11. Sheikh was then involved in murder, extortion and crime in Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, businessmen were one of his targets. 12. Sheikh was then shot, encounter or otherwise is for the courts to judge.13. Sheikh's funeral held in his village was attended by a number of people with criminal records and am told Gun Shots were fired in the air.14. How does the Hyderabad angle to it too - Sheikh was suspected to be a link between Pakistan based ISI and the Naxalites which is when the Hyd police started coordinating with their Gujarat counterparts. So Friends Sheikh was no innocent. Anyone who was don Abdul Latif's driver cannot be a saint, it is like saying that Dawood's driver was a saint. The media is saying implement Raj Dharma. India is not governed by Dharma but on the Westminster model. To know 'Science of Governance' based on Vedic model read piece by Swami Dayanand Saraswati excerpts from 'Satyarth Prakash' http://www.esamskriti.com/html/essay_index.asp?cat_name=greatmen&cid=313&sid=11004 <http://www.esamskriti.com/html/essay_index.asp?cat_name=greatmen&cid=313&sid=11004> . To know what is Dharma http://www.esamskriti.com/html/essay_index.asp?cat_name=qanda&cid=1118&sid=187 <http://www.esamskriti.com/html/essay_index.asp?cat_name=qanda&cid=1118&sid=187> by Swami Chinmayanandji. Hindustan Times in Mumbai on Sunday printed out a picture of Ishrat Jahan a girl who was killed in an encounter by the Gujarat police. Paper says she was innocent. Can someone tell me what was this innocent unmarried girl from a conservative Muslim family of Mumbra (near Mumbai) doing with three men (also killed) at 4am in the morning on the state highway. ( I do not agree with statement --LK) Friends the Battle for Gujarat Elections has truly begun. This Mahayudh is between English Media & Narendra Modi. The last time Modi won but there was an NDA govt then!??

This was not a typical encounter killing, but a cold blooded murder sponsored by the Rajashtani Marble businessmen - aka supari.
He may have been a criminal, but should it be the courts or the cops making that determination? If its the latter for whatever the reason or excuse, then whats stopping them from killing you?

Iraq war is going fine, Katrina was handled fine, there was no republican corruption, all the negative news is the liberal media's conspiracy against a compassionate conservative Bush - Cheney administration. :)
