Recently I have read a news in which NRN said if all parties agreed he would take up President's Job. Now some people may have their opinion on how infosys worked etc nonetheless he will be much better than useless angutha chhap Pratibha Patil, you never know who Sonia may appoint next, it could be one of the clown as in Digvijay, Manish Tewari for serving the master. I think people like Murthy or Kalam would serve and inspire nation well even if President's post is ceremonial. When people talk about India's President, it will bode very well. I'm not stuck on NRN but someone who is educated, apolitical, intellectual, has a proven track record and above all can inspire and ignite passion in young minds rather than selecting do nothing, walking dead men or women.

If I had a vote, then I would certainly not elect NRN for President.
I have seen the "wonderful" culture at Infosys and how well he takes care of his employees - so no thanks.

Above bold parts apply to Mr. Hercules/Complan Boy the Strongest PM too :). Do you think he has done anything of any significance?

As for NRN, we don't know his views on the Reservation, Social Causes etc. He has not shown any active part in political circles and his views unknown.

President of India is the highest post of this nation. Let the joke end with Pratibha Patil. We need serious contenders for the post which has been occupied by Kalam, R. Venkatraman etc.

I agree. It's positive that NRN came forward and spoke his mind. He should be given an opportunity, not getting into specifics on what he will/can do? He is far better than any puppet that may be installed by vested parties. On the other hand this may set the precedence for a change and more educated/talented to come forward. IND needs a good leadership.

The reality is that it doesn't make any difference who becomes the President. It is a dummy post, so neither a dummy nor a real intellect / strong person will make any difference for the Governance.

Really? What is your definition of making a difference? Did kalam make any difference or not compare to Patil? Does inspiring young minds, inciting passion among youth fit your definition of making difference? or when President of India meets dignitaries and head of states from other countries, Is NRN astute enough to represent India better than Patil? I can give you countless intangibles where having all rounded President will be anyday better than dumb President. It is time atleast we change our thinking, whether it will happen or not is different thing.

Big B could be a great president. Came from a poor background; would know the problems of the poor, by firsthand experience. He is tall and has goatee; would look good in photo-op's with foreign dignitaries. He can look (down) at soldiers of foreign armies in the eye, when inspecting honor-guards when visiting foreign countries. Not pot bellied; can make a military uniform look good. Already well known. Can talk a good line or follow a script with the right sort of emotions. When head-of-state and head-of-govt. are different positions, and the power is vested in head-of-govt., HoS has to stand for national spirit, convey national message in global stage and take advice from HoG without looking like a patsy. BB had been there in many productions already; a faux-regal bearing is better than none. A speech from president BB in the UN would be the clincher to get a seat on the security council. Wouldn't it be wonderful for the first grand-baby Little Aish to play in the gardens of the R.Bhavan house ?

I say we should make Big Khali as the president. Khali is taller than Big B.

I don't deny that Murthy or Kalam are 1000 times better than Pradipa Patil, but my point is how much they were / will be able to make difference in the Governance and improving anything to do with the Government.

He would have if Rajiv Gandhi was still around... or if remained in the good books of his friend, Sonia.
