Moving to Kerala by 2014

Post by connectkerala »

Hi All,

I am planning to move and settle down in kerala by 2014. We are currently living in London and my eldest son will become 8 years old by 2014. I have no idea where to settle down in kerala eventhough I belong to kerala. I am an IT professional working on .NET technologies and presently trying to get PMP certfiied to have Technical/project manager roles back in kerala.

Can someone share their thoughts/ideas on job, education, transport and accomodation etc.

Thank you

connectKerala, we are planning move in 2013 NY-Kerala (have been planning for 4-5yrs now solving the puzzle piece by piece). I have a 6 year old, 5 year old and a 1.5 year. We are not planning to work, once I move back. Planning to live a middle class live off of our savings/small scale agriculture (read maruti alto, medium house, cows/chickens etc :)). Education wise, we don't believe so much in these super expensive private schools. We are bothered here in US mostly by the distractions in schools and how studious kids are classified as nerds etc. I think kids will do better in Kerala in any decent local english medium. We also believe in uniforms (lacking in public schools here leading to distractions) and discipline, both pluses of Kerala schools.

connectkerala,

You need a road map for your journey. "Return to Kerala" is too general a goal. Most often, livelihood dictates domicile, especially when one is still in the productive phase. Start with your professional skill set and shortlist cities in Kerala that could potentially support your livelihood. Network, advertise and research job opportunities. Once you find the right place, the rest will follow.

This thread might help you in charting your course.

PS: Technopark in Trivandrum and Infopark in Kochi are two employment avenues you could explore.

Hi
There are many options and variety of opportunities for the NRI's to settle back in home land.
Since you hail from the IT family the better option for you to settle is Kochi and Trivandrum at first,
If you dont have a plan to be into a Job, instead start ur own biz. then a better option is thrissur and kozhikode,
All these places have many reputed and affordable schools and colleges
If you wish to own a house rather than a flat then north kerala is better
If you have specific queries we will help u out bro.. just ping back.>>>

I think it is better to buy a home near to your work place, otherwise it become tough for you to reach your place. If this is not a problem for you, then I would like to recomment you " Kozhikode".
Here is why I recommend Kozhikode:
Emerging IT hubs,
Affordability,
Lot of Bussiness and Education oppurtunities
Also I would like share the name of some leading real estate builders and developers, check:
1. Q developers
2. PVS Builders.
3.Apollo Builders
4.Skyline
5.Galaxy Builders
