What's up with this guy? He seems to be popular there. How is NZ for Indians?

You could see his partners squirming, trying to correct him, but he goes on and on...

Even more disturbing is the comment by TVNZ's spokesperson, Andi Brotherson, who said "Prepared to say the things we quietly think but are afraid to say out loud.? to an earlier racial remark by the same guy.

Looks like the Indian community is toothless there. There is no doubt that the comments were in bad taste as it appeared from the settings that it was broadcast to a national audience (or international audience, as we are commenting on it). At least in the US, there might be a forced apology, or downright firing (Rick Sanchez learned it the hard way) if you take on a powerful ethnic group.
It is hard to gauge how Indians are treated there, but wouldn't be surprised to discover an element of racism at a macro level.

I don't understand how a breakfast show on TV which is watched by kids and adults air such blatant curse words?

Anyways, the guy is a jerk and I'm surprised that he's still doing his job. The youtube comment says that he was suspended for two weeks. If it had been the US, he would be long gone.

A comment against Indians is not that severe to get fired, although I am yet to witness something this bad on TV. I have heard plenty of derogatory words against Indians from radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Neal Boortz, Michael Savage, and they are all doing fine with increased ratings to boot.
Maybe time to switch to NPR:emdgust:

He wouldn't be fired for the comment against Indians but for using those racial slurs! He could have used Chinese, Vietnamese, Chucky Cheese etc. instead of Indians and it wouldn't matter if it had racial connotations in them.

Nobody will jealous of beggers but jealous of something they cannot do in life. A pig can dress as lion but he will be a pig only. So don't sweat on him.

Radio shows are privately owned and broadcasted by different radio channels in different cities. If some city does not like it, they can drop the show. But unlike TV, radio hosts are generally self employed.

Two weeks for such comments is slap on a wrist. It really calls for firing the guy. But then again Aus/NZ is well known to be racist and target Indians. After murdering Indians, this seems like a compliment.
