Hi All

I am new to this forum & R2I as such and am wondering if any Australian Indians are planning to R2I next year? We can discuss our plans and aspirations here.

I am just learning how to post in this forum... So now I realise that I should have started the thread with my very own R2I plan before scouting for other people like me. Here goes...

I am planning to R2I mid-2012. I live in Sydney and Indian city will be Chennai. R2I with one toddler, so no issues with schooling (yet). I have lived in Sydney for 7 years and husband over 12 years. We both work in IT.

Interested in knowing if anyone else is planning to R2I from this part of the world...

Hi,

If you don't mind, can you elaborate on why you are planning to r2I from Sydney?

I had plans to return to Chennai in 2008, but did not happen due to various reasons.

vanaja;420876Hi,

Hubby and I always wanted to come back... there was never a question of IF, just WHEN.... there are multiple reasons to want to R2I - hubby being the lone child, parents getting old, want to put our son in an Indian education system from the beginning to avoid any issues w.r.t. transitioning, difficulty in finding like-minded people here in Oz, missing food, festivities and extended family are all contributors. Australia has been a wonderful place for us to grow and explore, and we want to return home when we are both young and our son can adjust easily.

Hi Aarun,

Thats great to know....when are you planning your R2I. Have you considered any shipping companies? I am targeting mid-next year.

Hello everyone,

anyone aware of tax implications if u move to India from Australia? Do you have to pay taxes in both countries?
Does anyone know only PR will be better for child or Australian citizenship. With Australian citizenship u will be charged massive fees in schools n wont be allowed to sit for all india/state level engineering/medical entrance exam. Or it it ok to accept australian citizenship initially and then renounce after 4-5 years? With current citizenship law , u can still claim your citizenship if you hold it previously.

Anyone has commnents....please.
