Can USC/OCI resident in India invest in individual stocks?

There is a lot of information regarding your question, already posted in this forum. Hence no one has responded to your question. I suggest you conduct a search thru the appropriate topics listed on the main page.
To give you a quick answer though, you are beginning with the assumption that you are a resident of India just because you have returned to India two months ago. Legally, you are most likely NOT a resident of India yet. Thats probably why the ICICI rep told you, you can't invest in stocks.
So the first thing is that you need to understand is the definition of RESIDENT. The answer is definitely in these forums - you just need to search for it.
