I have VHS tapes and Hi8 Camcorder cassettes which I would like to convert in to digital format. These are all in NTSC format. I would like them to be converted into DVDs that I can play in India. Apart from this, I would also like to copy the live TV programs to DVDs that I can play in India. I would like to know if there is a simple, good, economical way of doing this?
Appreciate your help and suggestions.

Buy a DVD Recorder and you can connect vcr/camcorder to the dvd recorder. You can then play the tapes in the vcr/camcorder and set record on DVD Recorder.
To copy live tv programs on dvd, you can connect output from tv/stb/vcr to the dvd recorder and record on dvds.
You can buy the dvd recorder in any electronic store.

Copying TV programs can also be done by
1. using a PVR and then exporting the copied file to HardDisk/USB and burning it on to DVD( as avi's or DVD format)
2. Use a USB TV Tuner which should come with software to record content and then you can burn it on to DVD( as avi's or DVD format)
For VHS tapes - Hi8 tapes, if you have device which can connect to computer vis USB or firewire then you can use the nifty WinDV ( just 50k size) to record the data and then burn it on to DVD( as avi's or DVD format)
