It doesnt have dynamic IP support that deprives you from using that for office VPNs, their call center guys don't even understand this when you try to complain. In few words BSNL 3G sucks....
I wonder how can this be a next generation technology when it doesn't support dynamic IP addresses, and be sure BSNL 3G is only for browsing internet and NOT for working from home,
Hence even though the model in the promotion of 3G doesn't look old, but this so called grand mas technology which they say is "NEWEST" sucks!!!

If office VPN can not be connected then what official video conferencing you can do? This is only good for house wives and college students who use it for browsing and not for professionals.
The tariff is also not value for money.

I'm going to bump this one with a question.

Went to the TATA outlet to get a Photon+ that I know works with our office VPN (the BSNL 3G offering doesn't).

TATA suggested I may like the 3G unit (cheaper and faster) but were unable to say that it worked with VPN (they did say anything that works with Photon+ will work with 3G).

Anyone got actual experience of TATA 3G and office VPNs??

Its better to try the VPN thing with their demo unit and make sure by yourself.

Some corporate VPN security settings have IP address range restrictions.
and some may allow access to certain DMZ level machines only.

Did you get any good internet provider? I'm also in the same boat, and looking for a good provider to work remotely from India. Thank you.

I have been using reliance netconnect to connect to work from home and the speed and coverage has been decent. I have used it as my backup for my DSL and since I have been doing a lot of travel to my Parent's place where there is no DSL - I have been using netconnect. I have used VNC, SoftPhone to attend audio confereneces - the response is not great but it works. The problem is when you try to use multiple apps at the same time (doing audio conference and doing something in your unix machine) you can see some sloppy speed.

Having said that, I carried my Reliance Netconnect on a recent trip to US and forgot to bring it back. I was on the market again looking for a new one and hearing about all the hype on 3G, went with BSNL. It has been a couple of days since I have started using BSNL, I am not satisfied with the experience. I could connect to my office VPN but frequent disconnects, some time the VPN is up, but the email connection to my exchange server cannot be established etc. I have to tear down the whole thing and bring it back up again. If any one has success with BSNL 3G & VPN let me know.
