Friends,

I did a search and did not find any info.

I found Costco not carrying rechargeable batteries (AA, AAA). Does this mean people stopped using? I was thinking fo buying few before going to India. What do you folks think? Is rechargeable econmical or just use and throw?

Thank you
SSPP

AA, AAA rechargeble are still popular. In fact I bought a pack from Walgreens the other day. BestBuy, Circuit City also carry them.

rechargeable can be very economical depending on how you use them. If you're buying it to use in a table clock, where a use and throw easily lasts for more then a year - then maybe there rechargeable is not an economical option.
But for example Digital Cameras that suck up a lot of battery juice in a very short period of time, rechargeable batteries are a god's gift. Canon's powershot cameras (which are some of the most popular models in the market) run on AA batteries. I have one such camera and must've saved hundreds of $ in the past couple of years by using rechareable batteries.

Check in walmart/Target/Home depot. I bought a universal recharger (110-230 V) with 4 AA batteries for $20(Energizer/Duracell both carry it). Also check in amazon for Sony universal recharger with 4 batteries for $25.
All our MP3 players/cameras/mini flash lights run on AAA/AA batteries. SO it works good for us.

Also once in india you have to buy a 3 pin adapter as the US units comes only with 2 pins. It is easy to get them here and they are really inexpensive.

Agree. If you have it, take it back ...but don't buy gizmos like these thinking that you won't be able to find them in India.

It again depends where you buy them. If you buy a cheap chino in a duty paid shop in India & complain - thats upto you.
