Google him, he writes on Scroll.in and has written a book; "Taj Mahal Foxtrot". May bring back memories for a lot of you, or definitely reveal connections between the past and the present. History's a great insight into a small world.

This Naresh Fernandes is probably a marathi hater . I picked up a copy of his book ' A biography of Bombay ' and I read that he was openly calling for Madras to be called Chennai , Calcutta to be called Kolkata , but says that Mumbai should be called Bombay .

[QUOTE]City Adrift gives you a feeling that Naresh loves “Bombay”. He still doesn’t like the city being called Mumbai.

**Facepalm**

That is the absolute last thing that one could conceivably call the guy. Mumbai, Bombay, what's the difference? It's an era thing. He grew up in Bombay. There are many old Maharashtrians who still have fond memories of "Bombay".

Actually, looks like he is a Tamil-Bengali hater but loves Marathis. He was hoping Marathis will not spend millions of rupees of public money to change a perfectly fine name.

Jai Maharashtra, Jai Bombay!
