Use this thread to discuss anything related to 2016 Summer Olympics.

Is Zika virus going to wreck havoc for the participants or concern is overblown?

Will India be able to improve its medal count to double digits this time?

More than zika, the inefficiency and current situation of Brazil is a bigger concern.

I wish and hope India to get double digit medals but I don't seriously believe it's going to happen. I would be pleasantly surprised if it happens.

Excellent gesture by PM. Every athlete got wished personally by Narendra Modi on twitter.

Nice gesture indeed to take time out of busy schedule to give much needed encouragement to the athletes.

On a lighter note, selfie with the selfie master :)

Watching Kanak Jha (16 year old) representing USA in TT. Falls in 5 games in singles to Iranian Nima Alamian. He is the youngest to compete in Olympic TT.

First American born in the 2000s to compete in any Olympics. :)

My bet is 5 medals or less (could be as few as 2). India doesn't have time for useless things like Olympic sports. It's too busy with Bollywood, cricket and petty corruption and road rage.

It was disappointing to see India struggle to beat Ireland. Does not augur much for the tougher games.

India's performance in olympics is consistent. Before olympics the news and media show there are chances for certain athletes to win the medal and as soon as olympics start, athletes start losing and news comes "........is out of competetition" or the player finished last or players are out in heats.
disappointment is the right word for Indian performance in olympics

Dipa Karmakar's performance is terrific, considering all the competition and lack of any facilities in India.

Had this been Leander Paes or PT Usha, this would have been hyped to the moon.
