My kids who're sixth graders like to use a calculator for their day-to-day Math homework, studies at home and at school.
Should I restrict them from using a calculator for a two digit multiplication at this age or is it a good idea to take help from calc?

Give them the access to a calculator.
And have them do the multiplication with and without the battery in the calculator and see whether they get the same answer. It is a good practice for exams when they would run out of battery juice.
