I have 7yr school going child. How should I motivate her? How should I inculcate the importance of gaining knowledge, working hard, succeeding?

She is a mere 7 year old! why forcing her to working hard or make her try to acquire knowledge. If you really want to 'motivate' her, you should put her to a school, where they teach kids in a fun and easy to learn manner. please be easy on her.

Let her be a child.

The only motivation should be by example, your and DH's.

Listen to your child when he speaks to you. listen to him and give him attention. he in turn will listen and pay attention.

I have same question. How to motivate them to reach for stars and if not reached, be happy with what they achieved?

Sometimes I feel the motivation is inborn. Either the kid has it or doesn't. May be good teacher or a very motivated friend or two in middle/high school can force them to go beyond their natural instincts but parent's role is somewhat limited in making them achieve their full potential other than contributing their genes.
