Why does a man cheat? Would you cheat on your wife even if she was gorgeous ?

Tony Parker (NBA fans know who he is ) and Eva Longoria (Anyone who has caught an episode of 'Desperate Housewives' with their wife would know her) are in splits-ville. The latest couple to hit separation track in US where divorce is becoming like epidemic in celebrity circles.

What bothers many women is Eva is in hot 100 list every year so it's not the hotness factor. Was it the age difference (she is 35 and he is 28)? Or the distance because both are high profile?

Why men cheat on their wives even if they are among good looking and hot by all standards? Or is this limited to US whereas in India we don't get to hear the separation/cheating that much (in comparison)? E.g. Our own Aish is 3 years older than Abhishek but their marriage is going strong with both of them being in high profile careers.

Pour in your thoughts...Plus tips on what should women do to avoid cheating from their spouses.
Topic is not to discuss divorce rates in US and diminishing family values but what can be done to avoid?

p.s. Please keep your comments fitting to 'family' sub-forum.This straying topic might lead to straying from CoC hence the special request.

When compatibility on ALL levels is missing in a marriage, it leads both men and women to allow their hearts and minds to wander!

Not just amongst celebs but divorce in the US has remained at close to 50% rates for a long time.

Marriages work not because of enduring love but because of disciplined endurance.

That is why a marriage is called a domestic partnership.

Domesticate = to tame (an animal), to live in close association with (another) human being as a pet or work animal and usually creating a dependency so that the animal loses its ability to live in the wild; :)

Discipline is what ensures domestication.

Discipline is not just about fidelty. It extends to affording security - financial and emotional for the partner. It extends to affording respect, and enforcing the same from the rest of the family. It extends to being available and attentive - physically and emotionally - to each others needs.

Discipline is about duty.
Whenever discipline slips away from a marriage it spells trouble.

Pardon me here. She might be in hot 100 list for being a "desperate housewife" but she doesn't look beautiful.

Let's say someone eats nice idli for a week. Next day he feels like eating chapati. Does it mean idli is not tasty?

Aish and Abishek is under video surveillance of BigB. In India also divorce rates are high among celebrities.

Sure, divorce rates are less in middle class in India. That doesn't mean everything is hunkydory there. In middle class, people are in the lower hierarchy of needs such as roti, kapda, makan and barely touching the next level of sex, love etc.

This was a surprise after Steve Nash (NBA fans know who he is ) announced his separation (unknown reasons), a day after his wife gave birth. More surprising is that Tony Parker is said to have exchanged texts with his former team-mate's wife (Mrs. Erin Barry). If that is true, it sure is a disgrace as long-term team-mates (especially in smaller team sports) are said to bond well and call themselves family.

BTW, Here is the first interview from Rachel Uchitel (#1 on Tiger's list).

100 list is a disgrace.. Eva is not hot nor is she good looking in my book. I think Tony just got tired of her. He might have realized he committed too early and to someone who has a career by herself and is away from home, when he is in town.

Good looking and hot can only go to a certain extend/time if they are not emotionally connected/committed. Tony might be seeing 100's of good looking females throwing themselves at him day-in and day-out in every city. At the end of the day its being able to relate to the partner, that is what counts, IMHO. Look at Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston. OK, Brad got Jolie but still.. Jennifer Aniston is hot too. And what about Mr. Sandra Bullock, Jesse James?

Aish and AB Jr. are in a different league. I think Aish is lucky at the end of the day. Bachchan is a brand, a popular brand and will be go down in Indian history like the Gandhi's, Tata's, Birla's or the Ambani's.

By connecting with the spouse on all fronts. Once a couple are connected/committed emotionally, I think they will be able to fight lots of temptations. That is why we have the word 'soul mate' thrown around in all these high profile separations.

One of my closest friends is considering splitting from her long married hubby of 18 years. Both professionals, 2 kids they are crazy about. She thinks
1) She was pressured to marry the first decent guy who liked her as family felt she was growing older( married at 24), dark skinned hence less interest, has younger sister to think of etc
2)She realised soon after marriage that while was an extremely nice chap, they had very little in common. Mental incompatibility/sharing common areas of interests was extremely limited.
3) Life has not been easy due to other external circumstances and est in the last 10 yrs, it has been only kids keeping them together.
Now he has found 'someone else' who makes him happy, so to continue the previous life is no longer an option. The most tragic thing is that she doesnt blame him for moving on and is not even bitter about it. She doesnt like living alone, though.
BTW , she is one my few friends who is actually slimmer( still very pretty) than she used to be earlier. Story set in India.

Men are simple beings, marriage to them need not be complicated!

They only want to be happy, and their woman to be happy. Some ideas women can follow:
- Be a happy person to be around.
- Do not remind (a.k.a nag).
- Resist the urge to bring up the past
- Be largely responsible for your own happiness; after marriage, a wife who is mostly happy and contented without husband having to be responsible for all of that, is very attractive to the husband.
- As stated earlier, men are simple; get to know the man and what makes him tick and ticked off. Try to do more of the first, and less of the second.
- Make the man and marriage number one priority, even after kids.
- Satisfy their needs at home and never let it be dull. Experiment with new thoughts and ideas. (copied from another post).

The above might not totally avoid cheating from spouses. But, if spouse cheats after all that, then he and the marriage is not worth it anymore.

Maybe the attitude among Indians is "Is there any strong reason for me to leave this marriage?" And the attitude among Americans is "Is there any strong reason for me to continue in this marriage?"
