I hate the expression: "Having it all".
To me, it somehow implies a greedy, materialistic & selfish approach to life (having more stuff, more money, more time, more experiences, more whatever - all at once). As I read in a comment somewhere why not settle for having some and leaving the rest for others?

2centsWala;550942I meant that, based on the context in this thread. When Sheryl Sandberg’s book had come out, I recall there was a huge debate in US media about leaning in, “having it all” and much of the discussion revolved around working women. Work-life balance and “having it all” are issues for men as well but the impact and discussion seems to be centered more around working women (as attested by ria_r’s post)

OK. Thanks. :)

I've hereby excluded you from the insensitive group who stand outside the room smoking while the women labor away the outcome of issues inside. :)

Disclosure: I did get it from your previous post itself, but couldn't resist asking. :)

Shery's take on India's commercial..Ariel- #ShareTheLoad
http://money.cnn.com/2016/02/25/news/sheryl-sandberg-india-share-the-load/
"This is one of the most powerful videos I have ever seen -- showing how stereotypes hurt all of us and are passed from generation to generation," Sandberg wrote in a post on Facebook. "When little girls and boys play house they model their parents' behavior; this doesn't just impact their childhood games, it shapes their long-term dreams."
Not applicable to gents like IluvHyd who does more washing than his DW :)
Do you agree that Gents sharing load of laundry helps break gender stereotypes. :)

Special thanks to the men in our lives that help us along the way-- dad, husband, mentors, friends. Lets keep them in mind as we take on and tackle gender issues.

With all the talk and suggestions about how to raise your girls so they can be brave, confident, independent and break the gender barriers and reach for whatever they aspire etc etc, its refreshing to see some advice as to how to set good examples for our boys as well. As the ad says, kids are influenced by what they see at home. If they see their dads helping their moms, then hopefully we will see a generation of girls and boys who grow up realizing work inside AND outside the home need to be shared by both genders. This is especially apt for Indian society where lot of gender stereotypes exists and helping wife with chores is still deemed 'unmanly'. And off course teach your boys there is no better way to impress their girl than being 'helpful' with chores.

I do dishes exclusively in my home. I hope my kids won't get the wrong impression that this is the only 'manly' job :)

And my older son's reaction to this video share was - I had seen this nice video quite a while ago. Nothing new.

Felt good to know that, kids also get to see such videos and articles shared among their circles.

I wonder what would be the reaction ( in Women) , if doing laundry means really cleaning the clothes - not just dumping the clothes into machine that spits it out an hour later...but soaking it in water, brushing it manually and drying them out in the sun...I use to help my mom in childhood days..That makes sense.

I dont get it...
