same here... more on the lines of "not interested to work in IT anymore"..

but hey I am working in IT anyway... and don't have the passion to run a IT business.. but more passion to run a fish farm( but wife and kids are veggies) or a gardening company or something like a Bunnings(in Oz)...

How difficult it is to get a brewery licence? I was wondering if one can start a new beer company in India. We need some cheap beer.

4 evergreen industires...

Food
Medical
Automobile
Housing

but should jump in with good statergy, and switch over plan.

for Ex housing is down in US but at the same time rental aparments are benifiting from this, but both fall under Housing

and in india you probably should also have lot of higher level political contacts

unless your father is the CM of the state you want to open your brewery:)
any liquor related industry you need political power.

Hmm...a microbrewery would be an interesting concept. But, as someone said, it is very tough to get a liquor license(for bars and pubs).

Medical is a good industry, particularly due to the fact, that india is following US, there will be lot of obese people, and changes in life style will make many indians unhealthy.

while this is a sad news, unfortunately it's going to happen. any one has any plans...

I stopped working as soon I R2ied this summer. Currently I am staying in Pondy. I see there is a big potential for star hotels( even 2 or 3star) or simply lodging. Tourism is on the rise. Food and Hotels are easy bet. For the rest one need that industry/field knowledge.
