Anyone planning to get more education?

I am thinking that it would be a good idea to do M.Sc., in BioInformatics or some life-sciences related course after doing R2I - that would set me up for future growth in these areas combined with my software development experience. This is one of many thoughts, ranging from doing B.Ed./M.Ed. to doing some courses in the Film/Photography institute! Something like that, by doing part-time/correspondence courses, while working full-time or part-time...
Is it possible to start on this (correspondence courses) before R2I itself?
Any of you on the same boat thinking about these alternatives?

If you wanna do it - do it before R2I.
Coz i'm pretty sure subjects like Bioinformatics are not taught well in India - again you probably know what they quality of Masters programs is in India. It's okay if you want to show the world that you have a degree, but I really doubt you will learn anything useful from an Indian M.Sc. program.

morega,
I have thought about doing a MS/PhD in IISc - check it out. I beleive that IISc has a strong industry-academics interhange.
You have to write Gate though!

Few months back I was looking for degrees which I can do online and I came across Florida Institute of Technology, which seems to have decent ranking and fees is very affordable.
Just though of passing the info, if some one is interested in doing online degree.

Sudying is the easy part. Getting transition from one field to another is difficult. And if you are already making decent money you might be prepared to sacrifice some $$$. Why don't you consider adding skills on to your current domain? There are lot of things in play here. One, your experience. If you are not entrenched in your current field (that is, less yrs of experience), you can afford to make the shift. What kind of returns do you expect in BioInformatics. Currently, every Tom, Dick and Harry want to get into software development. Why are you thinking about BioInformatics? And that too in India? What is your basis for the thinking that BioInformatics is going to be a lucrative field in the coming 5-10 yrs. Do you have any info or report regarding that.

Good points..
I am entrenched in s/w development for business applications. Switching to non-s/w related would mean a big reduction in my income. After doing R2I, less amount is acceptable to me if the work is fulfilling and enjoyable. If it is possible I would work part-time, and enrich my education on fields that interest me or where I see the market would be growing.
Specific to Bioinformatics / Computational Biology, I think that data mining and analysis on life is the next frontier (no data to support this, but reading many info makes me think so) and has a lot of potential for advancement.
