Hi All, (I've read other posts, etc before posting this).
I've been trying through jobs portals for last 3 mths, with no major luck. I'm going thru contacts, but have very few since I was out for 10+ years.
Total 20 years IT experience and 11 in US. but like most (I believe), have not managed large teams which is expected here in India. I need suggestions as to how to overcome this while seeking jobs in India. Most company's ask for whether we've handled direct reports/large teams in US, which is most likely not the case for many of us, barring few.
Any suggestions, advice will help a lot.

It is my understanding that most of the service based companies have managment track and technical track (architect / principal etc). If you are strong in technical, probably you can try that.

suchi, thanks for the reply. I used to be technical about 5 years back. since then I've been into project lead/management role. Hence away from technology for some time now.
What would be my options. I've done PMP, want to get into program mgt area, but due to lack of direct reports, delivery expe. i am getting problems landing interviews. any help will be appreciated. thanks.

Depending on how quickly you want a job in India, you may consider starting at individual contributer level and then move to a leadership role either at the same firm or a different one. From what I have heard and seen, job hopping seems more prevalent in India than in US.

Another suggestion I have is to join a very small firm. I feel smaller firms offer better chances of moving from individual contributer to team leader/management roles. The risk involved is that one cannot be sure of work environment etc of a smaller, unknown firm.
