Can someone tell me especially any Female - IT Professional as how is the IT professional life in office in Bangalore at various employee level (developer, Middle Mgmt, Senior Mgmt).

Since last 1-2 months we have spoken to many friends/ex-colleague, some says they comeback home by 6pm, some says they are back by 10pm.

I am very eager to know how Female IT-Professional manage their work-life balance especially with 2 kids (1 in school and 1 at home) with no family support where kids have working parents.

How do you manage when you need to go on-site(abroad) for short durations?

Thanks

Angel.

Vantage,

In MNCs, do they allow work from home all days of a week or is it usually 1 or 2 days a week?

I am yet to see a company okay with the former variety of WFH in India, MNC or not.

Regards,
R2I4C.

Did you see a company okay with WFH all days of week(while rest of the team is at office) in the US?

ONly if you are in a remote location. I have seen people move to farther areas and work from home office all days in a week (save an occasional trip), working for the same group.

It's a challenge..! But with some compromise and adjustments, many do it..

Stay close to work, look for a job which is not very demanding (like in a support group which has fixed working hours), hubby and wife working staggered hours, have maids/cooks/drivers.. Ofcourse, if family can help with kids,it's a blessing...

Some employers do allow working from home.. You may need to establish yourself before it becomes the norm.. Basically you should have a job which is task oriented to do remotely from home... With collab tools used at work now, many employers allow working from home.

If you have some speciliazed skills, you have better leverage..

I am from pune and I know that bangalore would have more choices. What are your skill sets

Do your research and find the one with the best work life balance. Companies like wipro infy tcs will surely not care for work life balance. MNCs also may or may not care. HSBC and T-systems in pune have a lighter load but have strict schedules. It is 9:30 -6. SO if you are late it is frowned upon. For a woman without support it can get to be difficult (maid came late etc issues) to always reach at 9:00. But there will be a few companies who are flexible in their tiimings and will have a lighter load. target them. couple of days you can work from home. Travel abroad... say upfront that you wont travel. You will lose flexibility in negotiations but that is a small price to pay.

Also try to work near where you stay.

from what I hear Accenture in Bangalore has a good work enviroment along with flexibility to WFH few days of the week. IMO the mentality of desi companies will never allow this to happen.
