If anyone has transferred to Oracle India from US; I would appreciate if you can share information regarding: (email- returnmumbai at yahoo)

1. Best group to join in terms of salary? I have heard of a range of 15 Lacs to 23Lacs on this board for 7-9 yrs exp.
2. Is relocation paid when the transfer is employee initiated?
3. Job level (same/higher/lower)?
4. Any other tips?

1. I can't comments on this since I don't even know the different groups over there inside.
2. Yes, but with a ceiling. Upper limit changes depending upon the position (varies from $4K to $6K).
3. mid-senior level. Again depending upon the area (tech support or s/w developement etc)
4. if you are technically good and proven, you don't need to worry about any negotiations. Oracle has a long process of interviewing so be patient.

Anyone got transferred to Oracle Chennai(small Sales office) , I am currently in the process of moving back,....will chennai accept new employess if they are from non Sales divisions, has anyone tried this option please advise if it is feasible.

Thanks missionr2i. Did you work for Oracle in the US?

If possible can you throw some light on the group (NAIO, SSI, IDC) that you will be joining at Oracle India and your area (Oralce Apps, Siebel, PSFT, JD, Server Tech, Platform)of work I thought your offer (23L) was pretty good.

Vidyesh, I dont know much abt the Chennai office but during most of the research that I did abt Oracle India, I did not see any opportunities in the Chennai office.

I got the offer from IDC. By the way, I am not joining Oracle. I will be going to Chennai to join a startup.

And I didn't work in US Oracle. So mine is not a transfer.

PTG pays the most.. If you join them in the U.S and want to relocate to India, it should not be a problem since most groups in oracle are vertical with members in the India when i worked there last.

Relocation - Should be around what #2 mentioned..

Salary negotiation will totally depend on your group.. Some PTG trainees were getting 10Lacs +.. So 20+ Lacs is not a real surprise.. It also depends on what others in the group are getting paid.. The HR has a policy of the spread not being more than 10% for similar skill/experience/job profile.

If you are good, everything is negotiable.


Vidyesh: Chennai is not an option if you are looking at Oracle. Bangalore or Hyd are the choices for IDC/ISC. Recently i heard, some support groups are trying to expand to Gurgaon.

I don't know of a group called PTG in Oracle. Does it stand for PeopleSoft/Portal Tech Group? Could you elaborate?

How is the payscale in Oracle Solution Services group in Bangalore for PeopleSoft skills?
