I primarily work in Oracle ERP and am in middle management. I have a strong database background and am looking to build some expertise in SOA. I would like to be at a point where i can understand concepts and find my way through. Since i do not expect to be doing hands on work in SOA, i probably do not need to know each and every tool. However, i am expected to manage and lead technology projects with SOA.

How could i go about building this skill? Any books etc? Or a web course?

www.infoq.com has several good presentations about SOA. Check "Developing in a Service-oriented World" (by Gregory Hohpe) and "The Role of the Enterprise Service Bus" (by Mark Richards).
