It only decompresses your spine giving temp pain relief. Have used it in US.
Long term solution is to strengthen your muscles and daily stretches. Read up Dr Orthos' thread.

Somebody I know very well used to recommend lying down on bed and hang her head over the edge to relieve spondolyis pain. According to her it worked very well.

Inversion table is useful only if your back/leg pain is clinically corelated to spinal stenosis - narrowing of spinal canal. Other than that, it may be waste of money or in certain cases detrimental to your back pain.

Thanks for all the responses. I have intractable abdominal pain that is possibly due to nerve or shortened muscles. This is the only thing that helped me so far. I did the treatment in Mumbai briefly. Bangalore hospitals do not seem to have this. For me, even temporary relief is welcome otherwise I have to be on narcotics

It gave me the ability to stand and relieve me of pain temporarily. My pain(lower back) has miraculously vanished one fine day. I was on narcotics and epidural steroids and a regimen of 20 OTC pain killer tablets/day. From last 18 months I am completely drug free including diabetic/cholestrol medicines. From a high of 205 pounds I have now come to 175 by diet/walking. Losing weight helped me(body) get rid of many evils.

:p some evils still exist and I chose it to be that way.
